Now put 35 tons of weight in the trailer, came to the state of Minas Gerais, Brasil, were 80% of the terrain are mountains with Hairpin curves and do the same score.

Aha! Finally a confirmation that using cruise control to maintain a constant speed saves fuel! :)
@chris77777777ify7 жыл бұрын
Unless your going down hills, then it will maintain revs. Where as a decline with a moderate grade a good driver will disengage the cruse & roll. The best way to drive to save fuel is to imagine you are running out of fuel all the time. It's a myth that going slow saves fuel when the truth is it comes down to revs per minute.

@@chris77777777ify .....Doesn't it cut the fuel when rolling in gear downhill? Or straigh too...?

***** I'm an owner-driver in the UK and I still run an 18-tonne Volvo FL6 tipper from 1997. Whereas I have spent a lot of time and care in maintaining the same lorry, the company I subcontract for has, like everyone else it seems, begun leasing vehicles, and though they have the 'latest technology', they do have signifficantly greater repair and maintinance costs, due to the complexity of the vehicles and the computer that is within them. They recently acquired two new Volvo 18 tonne tippers, both of which with a 9.5 tonne payload, whereas my FL6 has an 11 tonne payload. I have no intention of replacing my vehicle (you made it very well!) but I would like to ask: Does the fuel saving in newer vehicles make up for the combined increased maintinance costs and the lower productivity (due to the increased weight)?

well done Volvo.. think your marketing is smart and useful and you clearly care about giving your customers value and return on their investments.. which is of course great business. Keep it up!

Nice truck. Why can't Volvo Trucks bring FH into NA market?
@volvotrucks10 жыл бұрын
Hi Namjig... Significant differences in overall length and weight requirements are one reason why conventional models are preferred by the North American heavy-duty market.

another big fuelsaving is not driving at all, looking at 2-3 days downtime on my brand new FM thats called back for upgrades so little fuel used those days at least. not making any money either though..
@DaHitch10 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that, what's the problem with it?
@sisutrucks10 жыл бұрын
the biggest problem was getting the air ride adjusted, took four times in the shop before that was fixed. now its softwere upgrades and they say its gonna take 2.3 days. but i have a spare truck so i will manage, if not had that it would have been a disaster. i came very close to just returning the truck and switch brand..

Wondered why they didnt compare actual fuel consumption but then I realised it wouldn't be fair as the first guy had warmed up the engine!

I dont get why my FM 6x2 with CC / ACC on, coast when possible and then goes down to -3 km/h from target CC, then it picks up the slack.. i set it to 80 km/h, coasts at a downhill, goes to 77 and then the engine kicks in.. why? why not kick in at 79 or 80?

why is he using manual although it allays my fears of the Volvo the auto gearbox with a heavy load gets its nickers in a twist on steep hills and requires driver intervention switching to manual (if your quick enough) to stop a dead stop on steep hills, the scania never had that problem and would drop in to the crawler if required, be interesting to see the MPG as i had 14.1 mpg from the 2015 scania last week but couldn't get near it in the volvo i think maybe the extra frontal mass of the volvo creates far too much resistance, i saw a report from my company who own 1000 tractor units split between Volvo DAF and Scania with some mercs thrown in and over 2017 if they'd have run all scanias exclusively bearing in mind 90% of the trucks are run night and day with shared drivers they would have saved over £50 million in they're fuel bill
