BTW, the small connector under the console and the cigarette lighter: yes, that is the light for the cup holder. I installed that on my XC70. I bought a console from a 2015 XC70 with the lights and I swapped it. It’s totally worth is. Volvo Sweden made a video of installing the LED into his console but I was lucky enough to find the console with the lights already on.

Hey pablo, i bought the light guide and diode for the cup holders on my ‘13 volvo xc70 but im a little confused on how to install them, anyway u could describe how i connect the lights and position them?

@@samallen2599 I did a complete swap console. I believe you only bought the parts for the lights. I would recommend you to find the KZbin channel “Volvo Sweden”. Yuri, the guy there made a video showing how to install the led and light guide

I appreciate the video. It got me 97% done. The last piece. He says to push in the white clip which is incorrect for removal. Flat head screw driver and pry the white clip out. Also there are 2 screw that are on the dashboard facing the bumper. On the XC60. I had to drill them out. They won't be missed!

Hello Gerald. If you have no button on the white clip there might be a difference on the XC60. For V70 and S80 you press the button and without force remove the clip.

Hi guys, If you don’t mind I would like to ask,I have issues with my gear shifter on xc60-2015 D4 2l diesel,sport mode doesn’t work and light as well! My question is: If I connect just socket to the replacement one instead of replacing whole shifter just for testing ,is the light will come up?

Hej. Har hört av andra att de är dåliga på att svara. Jag har själv fått bra support av dem. Jag tycker inte att du ska betala mer. Felet är ju hos dem. Öppnade du en ”ticket” (ärende)? Hur långt kom du i själva processen? Började du med guiden att koda av bilen? Och sedan betala för byte till TFT och sen körde den guiden?

Hello Ahmed. I am not sure. But I would be suprised if it did not work. Check used parts web sites and see if you can verify on pictures between old an face lift version.

Hi! Just came across this video and always thought the old style was for geartronic, and the new style was powershift. Apearently this fits geartronic too! Do you need any software for it to work or can u simply swap out? Thanks in advance! And very helpful video.

Hello Jeremy. Yes, it works on both geartronic and powershift. There is no software needed for this change. I had this same gear lever on my previous V70 with geartronic. Gear lever from S60/V70/S80 should be bolt on. If its a 2013 gear lever, the knob shows which position you are in. (Dont remember the deviation on PCB on that one). Merry Christmas.

Thanks for your reply! I was wondering, because I’ve never really seen anyone do this swap untill I found this. We drive a v40 too, its a manual but still has the new style lever wich is much nicer! Seeing this makes me want to go and find one to swap with. First I have a tft retrofit to do! Haha. Merry xmas to you too and thanks again!

Hi Pay. I am not really sure about that. I believe there could be a difference, but that 60,70 and 80 series will work. (I have read somewhere that on V70 2013 there is a difference in regards to the light in the lever. (Position is shown by led in lever knob)).

Hello Gerrit. I guess that you mean that it can be put together 100%. Yes, its ”bolt on”. So it all works/fits accordingly. Note! On the 2013 version of gear lever, there are diodes in the lever showing position of gear. And its not so pretty from my perspective. I had this gear lever on my 2009 V70 and just moved it to this S80.

Hello Donatas. I believe thats the best way. This as you disconnect modules in mid console when doing this operation. (On the other hand, if you have Vida or Vdash, and you can always erase error codes its not a must to disconnect the battery.

thank you for your sharing, I did the same manipulation on my s80 2012 and it works, but I always have an error message while driving 'selector repair requested' and another message with a sound effect when I stop the engine of the car 'gearbox is not in position P' and the message still appears on the panel and the lighting of the knob of does not turn off even after the closing of the doors it consumes the battery and I do not find any solution until now, please if someone has encountered this problem or has a solution in this sense share it with me.

Hello. Maybe the pcb on gear lever is broken. I dont know if you easily could switch from your old gear lever. But give it a try to disassemble the old one to see.

@@swedemake5571 yes that's what I'm going to do, although they don't have the same light transmission wiring plug, I just mounted the motherboard of the new one on the old selector but it didn't work the problem persists, so I'm thinking of doing a direct solder on the old selector

Mine dosen’t get any light, i connected wire on left side who is the only connector i saw on the gear knob. Something i missing maybe?🤔

Hmm. It might be that the flex wire is broken between circuit board and the Led:s. I have not heard that there would be a Gear lever that does not have light in the knob.
