Vongon Ultrasheer Stereo Vibrato and Reverb | Secret Weapons Demo & Review

I think I have found one of my favorite pieces of sound design, whether for guitar, synth-y faux guitar, or anything else, in a well executed plate reverb. There is something about a pedal or plugin that, when they get it right, feels magical. The Ultrasheer by Vongon takes it's cues from the legendary Lexicon 224 for it's plate reverb and it absolutely nails it. Simple controls, incredible execution. To then pair it with an excellent stereo vibrato with a great random LFO? Even better. Switchable order? Now you are just showing off. The Ultrasheer is not a "does-it-all" reverb or modulator, but where it aims it hits. And Vongon absolutely nailed it on this one.

I can't remember if you said this, but does this retain the stereo spread of other pedals that come before it? I know the vibrato is mono, so I was curious about that...

Proper stereo dry thru. Your previous stereo effects won’t be compromised.

Hey just wanted to add the the vibrato is full stereo! I think of it like having two vibrato pedals (one for left and one for right) that are synced.

Mark. Again. Love your demos. Glad your using the el cap again. It’s good !! Ok. So I sold my night sky and another pedal. I was looking at the cxm. But. This is so great also. Would you recommend waiting and getting the cxm or the ultrasheer. This has that plate sound I love. And it does it well. What do u think ? Your opinion means a lot to me. Thank u 🙏

Depends on the level of flexibility you need and the reverb algos you need. If you’re looking for that lexicon reverb sound than your three main options are going to be those two and the UA Reverb. I haven’t used that but theyre all in the same ballpark. If you JUST want plate this is great and gives you that excellent modulation too. But if you need plate, hall, room thanI would look at one of the two others.

I've found the CB preamp MKII will clip my CXM 1978 (Even with Line level engaged) if I'm not careful. Does the Ultra sheer cope better with those signals?

I haven’t had any clipping issues with either the 1978 or the Ultrasheer. That’s strange to hear.

Only when I pushing the MKII and it's on full Reverb Time on the '78. Its in the long trails mainly, but its not really an issue.
