the Firestick 4K Max is probably still the best price to quality ratio. Even better when it goes on sale. If you don't mind paying more then the Fire Cube is probably the next best option

It is not terrible. ANdroid 11 + 1Gig LAN is good and at least 1 3.0 USB. I have seen a lot of boxes lately that had none of these. It seems like a decent budget box that will get the job done if one is strapped for cash.

The bigest problem with these knockoff android tv boxes is that they can not be updated with firmware security fixes & bug fixes, what you see is what you get! If you're going to get a chinese tv box, at least get one that has OTA updates.... e.g. Beelink, Ugoos or Xiaomi Mi Box at least you get some kind of update path without having to scrap the internet looking for a rom that works without bricking your device!

A lot of boxes claim (at least their sellers) they support HDR, even HDR+, What's the best way to verify a TV box supports HDR? I have an LG OLED TV which displays an HDR notification at top right corner when it receives an HDR video signal, Is this a reliable way to check for HDR support in a TV box?

I have an old box with Android 9, T95Q. It plays almost every HDR file. I've had some issue with a specific codec on Web-dl releases but bluray hdr works perfectly. If that 3 year old box does it, why won't these new ones?

Not for me. I'll wait for a S922x based box that doesn't cost more than £60-70. All the extra memory and storage is wasted with such a poor chipset. I presume that the Google certification and crappy Netflix and Amazon quality will continue as the products that are certified are piss poor in terms of memory and storage, probably using up old tech stock for as long as possible to maximise profit. It pushes people to firesticks, but Netflix could really pull a number on Amazon by certifying a good android box with a solid chip and decent storage. I'm not sure if they're interested though.

A question out of pure interest, 114GB usable out of 128GB, where is the other 14GB Gone ???

Good question. The figure you see on screen is the formatted volume - not the size of the drive. So during the formatting process, you do usually lose a certain percentage usually around 7-8%. Reason, could be more than one partition on the drive or not all sectors may have been used in that partition and then the system OS and the apps installed. But the bulk of that 14GB would have been during the formatting process. No idea what structure they use in these TV boxes. Hope that helps.

Is there an app that can show this? My 8GB KK Max worked perfectly with firmwares "4GB HK1 rbox R2" and "4GB Vontar KK Max". But it also works with 8GB Vontar KK Max firmware. Is there any app that can show that ram is actually 4GB when it's on 8GB firmware?
