OPPO takes fast charging seriously. Rather than using an off-the-shelf fast charging system, the company has designed and developed its own, known as VOOC.

I can give you one good tip. if your phone gonna get hot while charging. turn it off at least till it hits sixty. the point is to avoid heating it up. higher temp affects battery life. try to keep battery temp below 40C in all situations as possible & it'll have longer life.

Would be great to have an all-rounder smartphone. One with VUUC charging, Samsung latest CPU, display and main camera, LG wide angle camera, HTC10 OIS front-camera, front facing boom sound speakers, Elephone 10000mAh battery, waterproofing, quality and durability, stock Android, Apple/Amazon support, Google OS updates. Oh and SD card slot. +some cool new built-in SSD solution, and hot-swappable battery (like, if you want to go slim, just live with your 5000mAh, add 5000 more when needed)? Ok, if I am going for maxing out, then an IR blaster and wireless charging also has to be there.

I think temperature is one factor of slow charge however as phone is in charge mode the phone draws power from charger instead of battery. In quick charging the watts may be not enough to do both charging and supply power to gpu, cpu.

Nice video, thanks. However QC2.0 got obsolete in 2016 exactly due to its inefficiency, so it'd be interesting to test the claims of fixing it with QC3.0. A heat and charging-while-playing comparison with 2016 models (QC3 ones) would be great... Thanks!

this explanation can be made simpler and easier to understand if you explain about heat generation by voltage. in general, the higher the voltage of your electronic devices, the higher the energy (in form of heat) will be generated and dissipated to surrounding areas. the vooc charger only uses 5 volt whereas other quick charger uses 9 or even 12 volt. no wonder the vooc devices can remain cool and the only heat generated is by the CPU, not by the energy transfered to the phone.

this test needs a redo. the temperature testing is invalid since you tested the back when it was sitting on the desk for a period of time. so some of the heat are now dispersed into that surface. i would love to see actual battery temp while phone is floating from any surface and with back-cover opened to check temps directly from the battery itself.

Its obviously great for people who want fast charging but my concern is battery longevity. Fast charging already degrades battery cells faster than normal 'slow' charging and unless it was done by someone like LG who still allow the user to replace/buy batteries on the cheap could it not end up you keep needing to recharge your phone more and more as the cells get hammered?

If you need to charge any phone as fast as possible, use the best USB power adaptor you can find, and shut down the phone, and charge it. I have a 5.3v 2.5A power supply that is good for this way of charging. The voltage of 5.3V takes into account voltage drop in the USB cable, so the voltage will still be at about 4.9V by the time it reaches the USB on your phone.

+GarySims, I don't think that's the correct way to operate an infrared thermometer. You only triggered it at a single spot at the center of each phone. How do you know the hottest spot is exactly in the center? Every phone is laid out differently. Instead, you should have held down the trigger and swept the thermometer slowly over the entire surface area of each phone so you can accurately capture the hottest readings. Also, as stress tests go, playing KZbin videos isn't exactly the most demanding. Perhaps you should have gone with one of the more comprehensive benchmarking apps that test CPU, GPU, and flash I/O performance. Also, apps like AIDA64 can tell you the temperature readings at the internal chip level so you can tell if the case is dissipating the heat well or if it's just good at insulating your hand from feeling it.

great information. but what exactly is in vooc system that makes it charge fast even when using the phone? curious....
@GarySims
@GarySims 8 жыл бұрын
+Debajyoti Pal The difference is that other phones need to drop from quick charging to normal charging when watching KZbin, VOOC doesn't need to do that... I think I said that in the video...

+Gary Sims ya...i mean why does it not change the charging mode? whats inside it? some more technical details i mean....
@GarySims
@GarySims 8 жыл бұрын
Debajyoti Pal Because VOOC uses 5V but 4A which means there is less of a voltage conversion inside the phone. Voltage conversion = heat and it is dangerous to have two heat sources (i.e. the voltage conversion and the CPU/GPU) at the same time... I mention all this in the video...

+agil sulistiyo You're welcome =) yea you're right about some overheating problems but its nothing like a Mediatek chip though(I mention Mediatek as F1 Plus has it). I've used a couple of phones with Mediatek chips(Sony C5 Ultra and an old chinese phone) and gosh do these things suck the heck out of the battery, half a day's use per charge. Not to mention overheating like craaazy to the point where I can't hold my phone anymore. Its worse than the notorious SD810. Personally using the R7Plus and Zenfone Max, the latter being for work use. Initially there is overheating on both phones but nothing like Mediatek's. Since then I use power saving mode 24/7 and overheating is reduced tremendously, especially on the Zenfone. Performance dip is unnoticeable as I'm not a power user. My personal advice is to stay away from phones with glass backs. Stick to the ones with metal back, dissipates heat so much better compared to glass back which only rely on the metal bumpers on the side. Sure it feels warm on the hand on occasions but I see so many phones with glass back giving so much problem long-term. Its as though the internals were in a slow cooker. My Z2 being a great example. Dies after 16 months of no gaming use. And don't ask me about Samsungs. What a joke. Lol

Won't batteries of a higher capacity take longer to charge? Even if they have fast charge remember that with a larger capacity the charge time would obviously be longer
