I prewash for clothing and dont pre-wash for quilting. Part of the magic of quilting for me is when you wash it after finishing it and seeing it puff up from the cotton shrinkage. Very satisfying

I had the same issue with holiday quilting. I pre washed the fabric, but used cotton batting. I usual use a blend. Oh well.

I like the purple quilt. Isn’t it neat how some of the blocks look like an open envelope? I think I need to buy that twirly mat. I also began quilting in the 70’s and love the tiny florals from that era. I was gifted many scraps and thought I would make a half square triangle quilt with them. I am using HST paper that makes a 2 1/2 square triangle. What was I thinking?? I am enjoying all your projects. Great work!

Such a pretty Quilt, excellent gift for your aunt 💖! I found quilt as a very cozy and sentimental items, because of movie I've been watching long ago, I can't remember the name, but this year was pleasantly surprised to find similar Christmas version of it, where brother was quilting wedding gift to his sister.

Love the brioche shawl - sometimes I feel like learning to fix it on 2 color brioche is actually easier since you can see what goes where a little more easily. I have an epic mal this year - I'm doing Stephen West's Slipstravaganza Blanket - the largest size - 86.5" in diameter. I created a spreadsheet documenting how many stitches in the entire blanket and divided by 366 to get 537-538 stitches a day to finish the blanket this year. Having a lot of fun with this project.

Wonderful video! You could probably hack the block loc by using thick tape along the line you want to rest the seam against. Or cover the ruler with clear contact paper, cut along the desired line with an exacto knife, and then remove the contact paper from half of the ruler to give you a ridge to rest that seam against. Just spit-balling here.

Oh and if it’s a wall hanging, I would most likely not pre-wash. The sizing would help the piece survive more elements over time. I would also note that some fabrics do fade after washing- if I saw that I would want to exchange it, but I bought cheap fabric, so ??? maybe won’t apply to the higher quality fabrics. I would always pre wash.

I like that Carillon shawl a lot. I might want to try it if I can work up the will to do the brioche. It might not be good TV knitting.
@Voolenvine10 ай бұрын
I'd say the lace sections don't make for good TV knitting, but once you get the swing of brioche, it's totally doable! 😄

The best design ‘wall’ I use is a fleece lined table cloth from the dollar store. I use painters tape to hang it on the wall. It’s a tip from Karen of Just get it done quilts on KZbin- her dollar store hacks for quilting are great! I love the purples in your quilt so much!!

Hi Kristin. Lovely makes again thank you. I wash dress making fabric but never quilting fabric (maybe I should 🤔) I’ve never made a full quilt but made a couple of Chrismassey cushion covers for family but I’d love to make a quilted project bag Off to a crochet/knitting group in my local library this afternoon. Might have a go at the Battenberg squares (that would be my epic project 😂😂). 🙋🏼🏴

It’s all beautiful. I started the Battenberg blanket but couldn’t run with the lumpy join in round 1 so I join corner with a htr (UK) to the top of start 3 tr to form the corner gap. The other thing I like about yours is the 4 ply as in dk it’s not a good look. Jenx

Hi Kristen: Could you make some tutorials about how to read color work charts with lnv-l and no stitch boxes, how it align with the design. I bought a few colorwork sweater patterns and it was an epic fail because the block of no stitch boxes intertwine with the Inv-L stitches did not align or yield the right number of stitch count. I’ve knitted 6 raglan sweaters consecutively because I had to frog my colorwork sweaters due to confusing charts. I tried to look for tutorials that might give me some clues but found none. Thanks so much for sharing! Your knitting, sewing, and projects bags are so amazing, keep up the awesome work! ❤❤
@Voolenvine10 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the suggestion! Hmm... That's a very specific technique/scenario that I haven't come across. 🤔 It sounds frustrating, though! Have you tried reaching out to the designer for help with Inv-L stitches and the charts they provided?
