I think the shellmet section went right over Carl's head, since he thought it was just a guessing game. In reality, Stevo deliberately hid a just barely visible regular shellmet in a hint box to the far right side of the screen. The idea, I assume, was to make you believe that you've just seen a hint you shouldn't have, thus going for the regular shellmet. Then once you've went on, the spike ball appears to destroy the hint box and reveal that it was all a trap.

44:55 "Why does it keep moving though?" I am no expert in MM, but as a Programmer, I am going to guess that they didn't put any checks for loops. Basically, when the ice block is destroyed, the stack gets rearanged so that the muncher is sitting on cannon A, which itself is sitting on cannon B, which is sitting on the muncher (which is sitting on cannon A, which is sitting... You get the point), so you get a loop. If one of the objects in this "stack" (though it no longer is a stack really) moves it causes the others to move, but if those move the initial object also moves, but when it moves the others also move again and so on. For example, cannon A moves, because of it muncher moves, because of it cannon B moves, because of it cannon A moves and it repeates. To fix this they should've either dissalowed loops like this (when the stack is rearanged, if an object is already in it, break the stack) or when an object moves, prevent It from being moved again in the same frame.
