No one can tell what the Raven had in mind, but saying it was hunting might be a bit far fetched. Maybe just messing with them as corvids are known for their playfulness, maybe looking for weakened individuals though it seems the Raven was targeting specific individuals that didn't seem weak at some point... I doubt a Raven would be able to even catch a healthy Little Bustard or Red-breasted Goose, a sick or wounded one maybe. Who knows ! Fascinating footage nonetheless !

Ravens are known to hunt time to time, but mostly in group and targeting birds like doves... This one maybe trying luck to find some tired sick duck, but in one to one situation are chances balanced. Great vid.👍👍👍

Ich dachte Raben gehen nur an die Nester wo Jungvögel sitzen,aber Vögel zu jagen ist eine neue Qualität der Überlebensstrategie. Krähenvögel und die Keas sind die schlausten Vögel der Welt. Gruß Rena

Definitely looking for a lame one, they can fly as fast as the other birds if they need to. Ravens aren't well equipped to hunt other birds, they'll eat one if they can though - a very clever opportunist.

This Common Raven could have EASILY killed one of these small Geese if it wanted to. I've been studying these large Corvids for many years now. And they are FAR, FAR, more then just mere scavengers. While they lack the talons a Bird of Prey possesses to get the job done quickly and effectively. They make up for that in sheer beak power and a few properly placed "death blows" to the head or eye is all it would take to kill a bird of this size. The also possess a sharp slightly hooked tip at the end of there beaks for tearing into flesh unlike there smaller Corvid cousins Crows. Which do not possess this attribute.

tomtalker2000, I've seen your comments on so many videos! In a fight, who would win between a Great Black-Backed Gull and a Common Raven? (Both adults, males for example) Also, which bird is able to carry more weight whilst flying, out of the two I have mentioned? Random questions, I know, but just something I thought about because they are both the largest birds in their orders.

It's impossible for a raven to kill a goose. Ravens only kill birds smaller than them. The video confirms what i'm saying. There's no videos showing ravens killing geese. If you saw a raven killing a goose, for sure the goose was already injured. Crows and ravens like to mess with any animals, even stronger than them.
