Vortex Crossfire ii 6-24x50 vs cheap scopes

Spent all afternoon mounting and sighting at different distances. THIS IS JUST MY OBSERVATION or opinion you might say. But you can definetly find some bargains that will work for most people, BUT......... you get what you pay for. Thanks bro for telling me this for a long time. I just cant pass up a bargain..........

This is an excellent review and full disclosure, I am a Vortex fan boy. It started with my Mossberg Patriot .308 Win that came with a Vortex Crossfire II 3x-9x / 40 mm Dead Hold BDC reticle scope on it. A great scope with a great and intuitive reticle, perfect for close range hunting. And then I transplanted the rifle to an MDT chassis, love it, and put on a Vortex Venom. I had two other rifles (all of my rifles are .308 Win except for the one that is 5.56 mm) that I had put on the Diamondback Tactical 6x - 24x / 50 mm FFP. And I just love that EBR-2C reticle. And then I put on the Venom 5x-58x / 56 mm with the EBR-7C (similar to the earlier reticle) scope with zero stop. Great scope and a heavy one at 35 ounces. And those have become my tack driver range rifles. One of them, an MVP LR-308 is what I like to call my 1k yard rifle. So, I have a new hunting rifle designed to be the light weight get muddy and dirty in the woods hunting rifle. I don't care if I scuff the plastic stock, I can paint it. That is the TC Compass II in .308 Win. First two shots out of the rifle, ever, 1/2 inch apart at 100 yards. I zeroed with the Diamondback Tactical. With a hot barrel and regular hunting ammo (Federal Nontypical Whitetail 150 grain,) putting it right at the point of aim. Then, I thought, maybe I need to lighten up. So, I put my Crossfire II on and rechecked zero. And it was good. But I have just gotten so spoiled with the Diamondback Tactical and it is an upgrade scope. So, I have put it back on and will zero, again. Where I hunt is public land, heavily forested, and most shots are about 50 yards. Still, I can easily dial this scope up 3 clicks for .75 MOA and aim dead on, if I zero at 100. You pick the scope you like and can afford and go for it. That being said, I say, spend what you can on optics. Having a rifle like the TC Compass or Venture, if you like that one, should leave a litte more budget for a scope that you will like that is durable.

I too am a Vortex fanboy though for some of my long range guns I’ve really taken to Arken Optics they have a lot of great features for a very reasonable price and now they have a 25% off promo going on…..worth a look anyway

@@konaboss83 I also have some Arken scopes and they are good for the price. A 4-16X50 and some of the 6-24X50 sh4-gen2. The one problem I have had with Arken scopes and others have had the same problem is that the turrets, which are held by allen-headed set screws, will loosen and spin. And I have had some Vortex haters tell me that I did not torque correctly. I beg to differ. Anyway, tech support at Arken suggested Vibra Tite, which has worked but I have not tested under fire. Normally, the vibration of a day at the range is enough to back out the set screws. As opposed to my Vortex Venom scopes. I have had zero turret slippage and zero failure with those. Subjectively, I like the Vortex glass more, whether it is actually better or not. And I do spend quality money in other ways. For example, I buy the Vortex Match Precision rings, which are 150 for a pair. And a number of people have had good experiences with Arken and are even all happy for the EP5.

A have that C V Life on my TC Compass, 300 Winnie, and I'm having fun at 600 yards. Putting 5 in groups at 300 yrds. Today's budget scopes are yesterdays top of the line.

I notice the Burris cantilever mounts on 3 of those. Good looking mount with the rails on top of the rings. I have the same mounted on my AR15 Valkarie with a Crossfire ii Hog Hunter. Great scope.

The Vortex Crossfire II is THE BEST budget scope Ive ever seen for actually shooting. In fact I loved it so much I bought a Vortex Diamondback Tactical FFP thinking it would be even better... WRONG. The Crossfire was better in almost every aspect, it wasn’t FFP and it has an parallax adjustable objective unlike the side focus on the Diamondback but I still would’ve much rather had the Crossfire. If you’re looking for a budget optic, especially for a rimfire rifle, check out the Crossfire II. I have a 4-12X40 AO on a Savage B22 FV-SR and its absolutely perfect.

Vortex make some fine scopes, don't have experience with this one but the lower priced Viper is great, as is the PST from what I have heard. When I was researching my purchase I think the Vortex has a very durable tracking system that is supposed to make the scopes last forever with true tracking.. The only grip I have is the eye relief on the Viper, it is exact so muscle memory and getting the exact cheek weld every time is a must or you will have to adjust. That is fine if your taking your time not so much for that deer that just popped up out of brush. The glass on mine is great, every bit as good as on a Leupold gold ring I had. I tried to spell the Vortex correctly this time, I think I had the Chevy Vortec motors on my mind on the previous post. That and I was half asleep. Do your research and if possible go look through the display models at a big box store that has a good return policy before buying.

Those CenterPoint scopes should be put on a conveyor and dumped into a shredder as soon as they come off the manufacturing line. They are not worth the plastic they are made out of.

You know, you would think that. Never in my life have I heard of so many people sending something back under warranty and getting another broken one from the factory. For air rifles the Vortex is an amazing value and an AO to a minimum of 10 yds is a must. They are practically one of the only one offering this now out of most reputable makes (Chinese don't count). $200-$300 does seem steep for most air gunners, but I believe you will only get as good as the scope you put on it just like any other firearm.

I don't know why all the issues with Centerpoint I have a 3 by 9 by 40 that I got from Wally World about 10 years ago it's been on a CO2 air rifle has 22 Rimfire back to the CO2 air rifle on a springer has never lost the beat always stays on zero

For me its not an issue of holding zero once sighted in. It came down to the ease of the sight in process and being able to make slight and accurate changes in point of aim based on different ammo and environmental changes on the fly. They also lack in clarity of glass in most cases. I do have some centerpoint scopes in my arsenal, they just don't have the features to be considered great. They're just OK. But yes they work as intended and some better than others. Glad yours works for you. Keep it because you may have one of very few great ones.

Hey brother! I know we are dealing with cheap scopes ... but are you able to claim that these models are real 24x? I'm thinking of buying a CP 6-20x (it's cheap but I think it has a little more quality than the others - I hope! Hahaha). I read some reviews from people stating that these scopes are not real 24x. Among the cheap scopes, could you indicate me one that is 24x (or more, 32x maybe ...) to put on a Hatsan Flashpup .22 ?? Thank you!

For cheap scopes I like the CP 4x16. If you need the 24x cheap go with the CV life 6x24. The CP 6x20 is crap to me. I might have got a bad one. Truth is you get what you pay for and a good scope is worth the money.

Believe me the center point isnt even good enough for a pellet rifle..my .22 caliber nitro piston rifle destroyed 2 just like the one here within a day except it was 40 mm.Never even got it zeroed in...might work on a 22 rimfire or something with hardly any recoil..but great video b.t.w

200 bucks for a sightmark. Never heard if sightmark but I can get a Nikon in the same family for just under 300. You have already committed 200 for an optic what's another hundred. In my opinion it's worth the extra hundred for good quality.

I have 3 of the exact CVlife scope shown here, and love them. Two of them are on my ar15 sniper builds with long barrells, and the third on my 30-06 precision build. All hold perfect zero with the right mounts. They have lighted reticles also. You cannot go wrong for a bit over 30 bucks with shipping. They are not the same as my Nikon x1000 6/24, but they are also nowhere near the cost!

clpoelker I agree with your comment if you're on a budget or you need to scope several guns. I have had the same results as you. They sight in perfectly and hold zero. That being said, I had 5 guns scoped with 3 Cvlife and 2 cheap similar scopes. I am only replacing them as I can afford better glass. I have 2 left and they will stay on until I find a deal worth replacing them. Thanks for your input.

Bull crap on the centerpoint 6/20/50 I've got one on my t/c encore prohunter 7mm magnum barrel and I've shot it out to 631 yards hitting a 12 bongo with it.and I get 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards dead center and it is clear as a bell to.ive got me a new savage ba 10 stealth 6.5 creedmoor long range rifle.and I put a vortex 6/18/44 ao scope on it and that was a very big mistake in on my part,deer season just ended here in Virginia with our rifles.and come next year's deer season that crappy vortex is coming off and I'm going to buy me a new centerpoint 6/20/50 for my ba 10 creedmoor rifle so I will have a good scope to hunt with it.and I do own Nikon's,burrus,simmons barskas,bushnell's,apollo's,you name it now and the centerpoint brand will keep up with all of them.it not the price you pay for the scope you go out and buy,it just like getting a pair of glasses other people might now be able to see out of them as good as your eyes can.so no matter what the brand is if it works for you the but it and let it do the work for you and your eye sight to!!!!!

It is called a sunshade. If you don’t even know the basic parts of a scope you probably shouldn’t be reviewing them. This review is an absolute joke. You do realize pellet gun have a different type of recoil that will destroy scopes? You can put a nightforce on a pellet gun and the pellet gun will destroy it. You should really do research and stop talking about things you have no clue about.
