Voulisma beach is located on northeastern coast of Crete, just 13 km from Agios Nikolaos. The nearest village Istro with supermarkets, cafes and tavernas is about 600 m above the beach. Few tavernas and supermarket are also nearby just along road above the beach, there is also a bus stop. Those going to Voulisma by car can park in dirt parking lot next to snack bar that is above the beach. Then from there are stairs leading to the beach. That is the most frequented access.
In high season is very possible that the parking will be full and in that case you will see many cars parked just alongside the road as approaching the area. Along the road on the side of coast there is a pedestrian path with a stunning view of the bay and beach and further on west are also another stairs to the beach. Both stair accesses have amazing view of the beach that tempts to try capture the unbelievable beauty of the sea colors.
Voulisma beach is 700 m long and has almost always calm sea because it is situated in a bay. The surface of Voulisma beach is mainly fine gold sand and the waters are shallow and crystal clear. The west part has small natural bays with various cliff formations on sides. The most of the beach is organised with beach sets to rent. A place for your own beach equipment can be find in the western side of Voulisma. Seekers of water activities can join offer of Voulisma water sports that is located about in the middle of the beach. By the eastern edge of Voullisma is a small canteen and dirt road access. In some parts of the beach are tamarysk trees that create natural shadow. If you look to horizon from the east of Voulisma beach you can see Agios Nikoloas town, from where sometimes come private boats to anchor in the bay.
Voulisma beach is popular by tourists and locals and without doubt belongs to the best beaches in Crete.
