I've got to say, as cool as all these creatures are (very) it would be nice to see more projects like this that strived for a more comprehensive ecosystem. It's the monster hunter problem, every living thing is megafauna on a mind bending scale with little thought toward how the ecosystem supports something that large. I get it in games, you can't fight a cricket sized animal, but in books and art there's no reason not to have fun with such things.
@brainmind40702 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Why does everything have to be so gigantic? Also, some features of the animals don't really make too much sense outside of the "wouldn't it be cool if..." way of looking at things.
@gonzalochocanoart2 жыл бұрын
I agree on your point seems like they kinda just gloss over that. And While I’m not gonna assume I know what alien life forms may look like, all of these creatures seem oddly geometric instead of more organic shape of fauna we see on earth, hard to take seriously. So yeah, I'm glad I don't have to bring it up first! But it's blatant. There are _significant_ examples of it in this video - some of the most obvious... 10:04 face is a groin - the spaces on the side where the legs are missing is where the animal's convenient "skull hole" ends up -_- 12:38 chest and forelimbs are obvious human "bag" and back of legs - like a nude yoga instructor showing his most relaxed down dog. 14:24 Those fingers are... aubergines? Yeah, definitely aubergines. Girthy. Video chapter is called Unknown _Reaches!_ LOL. 8:10 I think the best way to say this is: _Girl, That's a Bootyhole._ There's too much of it in this project to give them the benefit of the doubt. It's very HR Giger - but... not. There are a disproportionate amount of creatures with features that look like exposed posteriors. Everything's _slick_ and _ripped_ and _hairless_ and _dripping._ It's a bit much. Yes: bodies in nature are composed of common shapes, but this seems over the top. Some things seem deliberately tongue-in-cheek encoded, like the names of the vehicles seem like cleverly disguised suggestive references. It reminds me of some spec bio they used to run in Heavy Metal Magazine. I feel like there might be esoteric elements that go over my head. It's kinda funny, but I can't take it seriously, and I'm not sure how I feel about it trying to carve an equally legit place in the space of Spec Bio on this channel.

@@louisosmany9556 Well, in the case of early mammals and modern mammals, one has derived from the other, so this may not be the best example. I think a better example would be sharks and dolphins. There are noticeable differences in their morphologies, but there are also a lot of similarities because they fill similar roles in similar environments.
@catpoke95572 жыл бұрын
@@brainmind4070 Yes. The lack of eyes and the very geometric, un-streamlined shape of the animals is a bit much. There's just no reason for animals living these lifestyles to lack eyes on such a bright planet, especially when much of their prey has eyes. And there's no reason to have a body that is so difficult to push against the wind when this geometric box shape won't help with your balance, or your defense, or... anything. The only explanation I can think of for why so many animals would be so boxy is that their common ancestor was, but I really can't imagine that the first animal would be boxy either. That's a shape that takes a sturdy body to maintain... which is also another reason I think their shape is weird. And I can imagine that a speedy predator would quickly evolve out of such a body plan anyways... Their bodies would certainly be very different from what we'd expect, but certain things are going to resemble Earth if the animal is on an Earth-like planet.
