Thank you for the kind words about Richard Basehart, David. My dad and Richard were cousins and dad remembered watching Richard perform on stage as a drama student at Zanesville, Ohio High School. Way before his Admiral Nelson days.

Wish we could all age like David Hedison, he looks good for someone his age. It's nice to know he's still alive and well, he and Voyage were a part of my childhood and I became acquainted with that series before I saw Star Trek for the first time.

Having met this wonderfully nice and well-spoken man several times at Chiller Theatre (East Coast) I can say that all the commentary posted about his here is 100% true. He always lets fans speak as long as they want, and he and I had a great talk for about 20 minutes one time. We spoke about our fave episodes and about his role as The Fly and some of his movies back when he was contarcted under Fox Studios. All in all, a great man who deserves his fame big time! Rock on, Mr. Hedison!

A great hero of my childhood. As a little boy I was fascinated by the Voyage to Bottom of the Sea. I remember the crew of the submarine Seaview being hit by all kinds of hazards and rocking all over the place. Fabulous! Those were the days, life was simple and free of worries. Thank you very much Mr Hedison!

I remember watching Voyage and I wish Captain Crane could be my dad . He was so minded strong , a straight forward guy , used to think of solutions to every and each situation the crew had been through . That character became my idol ; I was like six seven , and I quickly became a Crane wannabe . Hedison has always been an Amazing actor , and in a way was a good example to be followed in my childhood years .

Seaview was an awesome show. Hedison and Basehart were fantastic and brought everyone to know who they were or calling them the captain or the admiral. My dad and I and my four brothers set around the family watching TV together it was good times. Times I wish we could have today. Yeah maybe some of the scenarios got a little over-the-top but that was part of the beauty of it because everybody made the jokes about the Seaview rock 'n' roll, Blow ballast hard right rudder, they brought some marine talk into every household. They also inspired lost in space. The Flying sub wow what an excellent creation of imagination. Still referred to today as one of the ultimate badass things on television. I fly radio control I would my building a flying sub lol! I know they used a lot of small models and things but man I bet it just had to be a riot making that show. I've been watching it recently today and I got a Tell ya it's almost like I'm addicted to it all over again.

Voyage ttbots one of the best series love it . So many memories of my child hood. I Couldn't agree more with David Hedison you identify with the characters. Richard Basehart is sorely missed. The political tension at the time is played out well in palpable tension and paranoia. Admiral Cpt Lee Crane, XO Chip Norton, Chief Sharkey, Kowalski ,Riley. All great actors and cast. Thanks for posting. I am so fond of the series and watch it every day . Be great to have it remade up to date but then again it wouldn't have the same magic. Richard Basehart was Admiral Nelson. Great portrayal.

I met David Hedison at a Sci Fi event a few years ago in Louisville, KY. He's a Brown University graduate and indeed very smart and highly educated. Theatre and acting was always a passion for him. I wish I still had my 1960's model of the Seaview. It would be worth a few bucks today..

Thanks to the amazing acting from Richard Basehart and David Hedison, they made Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea appear realistic. After watching the shows recently, I was expecting them to look completely outdated, but they do look surprisingly ahead of their time considering the technology back then. Credit to the special effects, props and models, and clever visual effects. It's good to see David look healthy and mentally sharp. Great interview.

***** Thanks. It's very refreshing to chat to someone on here without them getting aggressive and angry, especially if you don't agree with their opinions or you have an opinion which they don't particularly like. KZbin can be a very hostile place at times.
@Aerojet017 жыл бұрын
***** Thank you again for the generous words. You have well balanced mind. I think it has a lot to do with the fact they are behind a computer and there is no human interaction in a physical space. It is the same as the angry abusive person behind the wheel of a car surrounded by glass and metal. Most people are normally very civilised when they are confronted on a one to one scale. I've been on KZbin since it first started, but I have come across some decent people on my travels, including you. I always have time for nice genuine people, but I can't stand obnoxious, abusive, arrogant and egocentric personalities. I'm not perfect, but I try to treat people the way I want to be treated. All the best. Rex :)

Despite the fact that his hair and beard are snow white, he hasn't changed one bit, his face is devoid of any wrinkles and creases. What's his secret? I was a wee lad of six when Voyage hit the airwaves. I was hooked on this, and all of Irwin Allen's sci-fi shows of the 60's. If Irwin had lived to now, he'd be 97-years-old.

David Hedison just passed away in July 2019. I’ve started watching the series again one of my all time favourite series. I think he was the last cast member to pass away. Richard Basehart was a great actor and a fantastic narrator. He narrated the Vietnam war series the 10,000 day war. These shows were great for young people who needed role models and childhood hero’s. You’ll never see shows like these again because Hollywood has gone politically correct with social justice and produce nothing but garbage.
@gloriaojeda11 жыл бұрын
My love was always platonic Captain Lee Crane, for me it is and remains the perfect man, even at his age. I see her daily series and enjoy the performances of both David Hedison, Richarc Basehart as the Master laze in peace. Thanks for giving us this time and congratulations on this series of voyage to the bottom of the sea, that never go out of style.

It's sad we lost David in 2019. He was the last of the original crew to pass away. Appropriate since the Captain of his ship is the last to leave when it was over. Too bad they didn't reboot the series or at least give it an ending.😢😢😢 3:17

I didn't care for Richard Basehart on the Voyage of the Bottom of the Sea and remember an edge between Richard's character and David's character. It was when I grew older and I saw him in WWII movies and others where I liked him that I began appreciating his acting. By my teens I appreciated both actors and grew to enjoy the To The Bottom of the Sea more. It was a pleasure to find out about their friendship and respect for each other during the show. I think the people are far more interesting than the parts they play.
