Just what I needed to know. It takes at least 3 potfuls to get water to flow.

I had the same question hooking mine up last night. It had a holding tank of water that it keeps hot, when you add water over that, the hot water comes out and what you added replaces what is now coffee.

+Carie Burns-Smith When you pour one pot of water into the brewer, it fills the holding tank about 1/3 of the way full. After 3 pots of water, the tank will be full and after plugging in your machine, you can turn on the tank heater and after 30 minutes, brew a pot of coffee. See our new animation videos on our channel for more specific information and a look into how it all actually works from the inside!

So is there always water sitting in the holding tank then? This doesn't sound right, especially if I use the brewer only occasionally. Do I want water sitting in there over an extended period of time?

@@cstanton33 ya I'm kinda tripping about this too, but I brew daily. So I'm not concerned about mold or anything it just seems strange to have several pitchers of water in there ALL the time. And how do I drain it if I want to move it?
