Hey man, Porting the upper is really easy and a great bump with a tune. I ended up porting both upper and lower and port matching the upper to the lower. If you decide to do it, the port matching is imperative to eliminate the lip between manifolds but with the lower - Port the opening (to match the upper port) then blend into stock size by halfway down at the latest otherwise you will lose mid-range torque due to lost airspeed velocity. In the lower half just sand the casting imperfections on the sides. Basically the upper is opened up, matched to the lower but the lower is essentially velocity stacked to keep the airspeed when it hits the head. With the 3" duals and a tune - this is the best intake system for HR/VHR. Trial & error is how I worked it out. Costs very little, just labor & of course a revision tune. You will need a new lower manifold gasket of course and re-torque the lower to head after about 5-10 heat cycles as some bolts/studs can loosen slightly potentially creating a tiny leak that will drop the torque. Good luck brother! P.s. If you don't velocity stack the lower, you might end up with a couple more HP at 7-8k but you will lose about 10ftp between 3-5.5 which is a shame for anything other than redline racing.

What's the $$$$ ballpark to build a fun car like this that can autox or track too? $7-8k? I've seen end of life 350z's for $2,000-3k and local importers have 3.7 for $1,500.
@sleeplessperformance2 жыл бұрын
Prices always vary in the used market but it can be done decently cheap if you source 1- a crashed G37s manual and swap it into a 350z. 2- do the work urself.
@carlitozway9135 Жыл бұрын
Hey dude. Great time you ran. Question; with the VHR swap, what did you do to get the 350z cluster to work properly with the VHR setup? Sitting with a VHR motor and deciding if I should swap the entire thing or just use the block on my HR heads

So my harness was made to work as a standalone using the stock 370z/G37 Ecu. My chassis does not communicate with the ECU. The speedo works due to sensors in diff. And gas gauge works due to sensor in tank. Everything else I have aftermarket gauges. However there are other companies who make a plug and play harness where everything should work, but they weren’t available when I first did my swap.

@@sleeplessperformance the 3.69 vlsd from the 370z is a cheap upgrade that I did but my vlsd is bunk - feels like an open diff. Maybe I'll put in a recond vlsd if they make them. Can't afford a 1.5 way.
@sleeplessperformance3 жыл бұрын
@@ryanscanlan9875 sadly I probably won’t do the 3.69 cause I do plan to boost it in the future and think the 3.5 will work better. Plus I already did solid diff bushings 😭😭😭
