My Fronty 07 V6 is now 260k odo. Bought it brand new. Change radiator at 87k. Since then, never drain replaced tranny oil n still pinkish color. Im not touching it coz it runs like brand new. Recently replaced passenger side converter cat. Orig water pump n thermostat still good. Nice vid.

Wow you have some time on that engine. I want to tell you change the tranny oil but with 200k I'm reluctant. If it was me I'd probably drain a qrt every 5k and replace it with a high mileage fluid. I'd do that for the rest of it's life. Sort of at this point you would just buy a new truck if the tranny failed. Thanks for stopping by and reviewing the video.

Does my 2006 4.0 l e nissan frontier have a auto transmission filter to replace ? Thanks for the help😎
@autoxadvice4159 Жыл бұрын
The 4.0 auto have screen mesh only so no reason to replace it. Just do a drain and flush.

Did you do the by pass on yours? I have a 2010 but am not 100% sure if my radiator has the issue. I’ve got 112k on mine with no issue yet. What interval on you drain/fill your ATF?
@autoxadvice41592 жыл бұрын
No. I don't really like the bypass, because a couple of things. 1. If your radiator is bad and you bypass it still means you have a bad radiator and coolant can leach into that space or old tranny oil can leach out. 2. If you are in a cold climate its going to take longer for the tranny fluid to get up to temp. Coolant heat transfers to the cold tranny fluid so that once to temp your torque converter can lock and your rpms can drop.

@@autoxadvice4159 Do you know how to verify your radiator does not have that issue?
@autoxadvice41592 жыл бұрын
@@TN-Land-Manager take the model number down and call a Nissan dealer. When Nissan fixed the issue they changed model numbers on the radiator. This is a good way to verify.

Strange color for the old fluid, looks like engine oil, I have a 2010 and it has the same "clear" oil in it, I wonder why ? Matic S is red
@autoxadvice41593 жыл бұрын
My truck is a 2012 with 48k miles on it... Super low mileage. Now with that said the oil is dark red which makes it look like dark brown motor oil. I didn't have to change the oil out yet but I wanted to get into a process of dropping the oil and replacing it with rather than waiting to the recommend change interval.
@autoxadvice41592 жыл бұрын
But at some point I should be changing the oil no matter what age/mileage. You could argue that old high mileage oil should stay in or be replaced with high mileage oil. Also the smell of the oil can help tell you the age. Sweet is new and burnt is old. Also, dropping the oil, not a flush, leaves some old in the torque converter so the new and old will mix and will give the tranny a balanced viscosity based on your oil age.

I just did the bypass on my 2010 Xterra,owned it 5 years,no issues.it currently has 114k miles on it.Anyone ever have a transmission failure doing a bypass?
@autoxadvice41592 жыл бұрын
No bypassing is fine. However, cold winter areas with a bypass will take longer to warm up to temp because it's not integrated with the radiator. Also, if you are hauling a lot the bypass losses a bit of capacity for cooling but it's not a large area.

Thank you for these videos. I need to order crush washers I've done about 3 drain and fills. Truck only has 67k but I do tow my travel trailer with it. I was thinking about getting a scanner to read trans and engine temps. I'm not sure how hot I'm running while towing. Any experience towing with your truck? Thanks again
@autoxadvice41593 жыл бұрын
For one you need to make sure your truck can pull the weight and this includes all items in the trailer as well. If it were me and my trailer was at or near max tow rate is get a bigger truck. With that said I've never had a trans gauge to monitor temp. What i so use is the Torque app and a Odb2 bluetooth scanner. I'm not sure if trans temp is readable with the app (some sensor PIMs aren't always readable until someone or the author programs them in). I'll have to check into this. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

The frontier can haul aprox 6k depending on your setup. So you should be good. I think you temps with your weight should be fine.
@Mike.D.8433 жыл бұрын
If you find a way to monitor the trans temp, that doesn’t involve adding an in line temperature sensor and guage, I’d love to hear about that.
