VRANOV NAD DYJÍ I CZ - Less Visited Surroundings Of The Famous Architectural Treasure

VRANOV NAD DYJÍ - an important Baroque castle rises above this border South Moravian town and the river Dyje, being located on a rocky cliff. Another, more nowadays landscape feature and a popular excursion destination is the neighboring Vranov dam. Visitors, however usually pay much less attention to the surrounding wooded hills. Several tourist circuits pass through them and they are also enriched with smaller monuments. They provide peace and distance from the hustle and bustle, not only in the form of views oriented towards the landmarks.
OUR ROUTE included several of the aforementioned circuits and led from the campsite and along the dam towards the castle. Since we wanted to walk a little in the woods as well as the surrounding villages, we extended this relatively busy route by three other circuits, namely: Hraběnčina stezka, Felicitina stezka and Claryho okruh.
POINTS OF INTEREST ON OUR ROUTE:
▪️ Camping Vranov Beach
▪️ suspension footbridge over Švýcarská bay - a rather unique type of bridge in our region (from 1993), the footbridge consists of prefabricated parts suspended on suspension cables
▪️ Granátová Bay - rocks of the (Czech) garnet type occur here
▪️ hydroelectric power plant and dam built in the early 30's 20th century according to a Swiss project
▪️ Hraběnčina stezka - bunkers in the Junácké valley (from 1935 -38, part of border fortifications), Maria Schütz temple (from the end of 18th century, originally an "ancient" temple), scenic viewpoint Tanečnice - overlooking the castle, castle stables
▪️ chateau - especially valuable is its Baroque conversion by J.B. Fischer von Erlach, the most famous space is the richly decorated oval hall of the ancestors of the Althann family, you can also climb the medieval watchtower with views of the whole surroundings
▪️ Felicitina stezka - Felicia's Well (a smaller classicist building from 1806, built by Countess Felicia Mniszek)
▪️ Benátky and Bělidla - picturesque parts of Vranov, just by the river and under the rock, smaller rapids on the Dyje, views of the Vrani Tower and castle

▪️ Claryho okruh - Švédský příkop (monument to the 30 Years War), Mniszkův kríž (from 1846, in memory of one of the Mniszeks, view of the castle and the Dýje), Nejsvětejši trojice (1746, Baroque chapel with 6-angular ground plan, views in the same direction), Stříbrné waterfalls (a pleasant meditative place), Clary's Cross (1831, monument to one of Count Mniszek's friends, views of the castle and dam)
