Lesson 87 "Learn hand movements through example sentences" ~Grammar of Japanese Sign Language~ ・I am looking forward to the transition from summer to fall.（夏から秋への移り変わりが楽しみです）→夏／秋／変わる／楽しみ／私 〇Sign order: Summer + Autumn + Change + Looking forward + I Summer = It represents the image of holding a fan and fanning your face. Autumn = the image of a cool autumn breeze blowing on your face. Change = The interchanging positions of the hands expresses "change". Looking forward to ~ = The mix of "Fun" + "Wait" Wait = The sign comes from the pose of someone resting their elbows on a desk and resting their chin on the back of their hand. I = It is expressed by pointing to oneself. In addition to being placed at the beginning of a sentence, placing it at the end can also give the sentence the meaning of "I" or "me," am the pronoun for this sentence, indicating the first person. *Summer and Autumn = expressed by placing "summer" and "autumn" on the left and right of the space in front of you. It is an expression of placing two words visually next to each other. *It expresses “change” as it slides from “summer” to “autumn” placed on both sides. This will mean “change from summer to autumn" ・My friend headed to another world.（私の友達は別のワールドに向かいました）→私／友達／男or女＋指差し／他／ワールド／向かう 〇Sign order: I + friend + male or female + (points) + other + world + head/headed to Friend = The image of friends holding hands. However, JSL also allows you to convey these conjunctions using nodding gestures. *Note: Depending on the context, it may be necessary to use the actual sign for the conjunction rather than just nodding. Go home = It's a combination of “house” and “return.” "Home” represents the shape of the roof. “Return” represents the image of someone going back home and becoming smaller and smaller as they go further away. Relief = It represents a state of relief. This expresses the image of walking while being distracted by the phone. *This technique is an example of CL (Classifier) expressions, which use gestures and body movements to represent the state or action of things. Hitting head on wall After expressing "walking unsteadily", use the same hand that was representing "walking" to make the one-handed sign for "wall." Then, act out hitting your forehead against the imaginary wall by tapping your own forehead. Leaning your body backward (as if recoiling from the impact) will enhance the imagery. *This, like the "walking unsteadily" gesture, is another example of using body movements and gestures in a CL (Classifier) expression to represent an action or state visually. In pain = After you have hit your head and are facing down, express the sign for “hurt” around your forehead.
