Vermont Sheep and Goat Association is pleased to present this interview with Chet Parsons of The Parsons' Farm based in Richford, Vermont. Chet recently retired from shepherding, but has decades of experience and knowledge in the sheep industry. The Parsons' Farm was established in 1919 and Chet began managing his flock of sheep in 1985, the same time he took on the roll of a livestock specialist with the University of Vermont Extension. Many current members of VSGA have been fortunate to work with and learn from Chet to help grow and improve our own sheep flocks.
This interview was filmed at Shelburne Farms where the Vermont Sheep and Goat Association are fortunate to be able to host annual Lambing and Shearing clinics. These clinics offer classroom learning and hands-on learning experiences. The lambing clinic offers attendees the chance to tag, castrate, and tube feed lambs, which are all important management practices. If you are interested in participating in either the Lambing or Shearing clinic, be sure to visit our website for details and registration information. vtsheepandgoat...
