Add the rigidity back to your fender and close up that ugly gap. An inexpensive and quick fix that looks great using 1/4 round steel

this is the most under rated build channel I have come across ... really nice work with tools most of us have in our garages ... this will be inspiration for my future bobber build

Nice vid. I have the same original silver colour as your rear fender. I've also cut mine but I like the round stock around your one. I like how you explained the process so anyone can have a crack at it.

Absolutely! That was the intent of the video. Most of the stuff I do is done with basic shop tools or I try making a simple version anyone could do with common tools and then make a more advanced version using welders or other tools not found in everyone’s home. Thanks for the support!

@@rev7garage you mentioned that you had to remeasure many times to cut the rear fender support. I want to try to get the same look. did you write down the measurements for the cuts on the fender and the seat support? I was thinking you should put it on paper and sell the dimensions on the cut. I'd buy it.

Looks much cleaner and finished with that round stock wrapped around the edge. Nice work. Not sure how you manage to take on all these projects at once with 5 kids though... we’ve just added a 3rd and it’s near impossible to get anything done. Just when I think I can finally sneak out into the garage, I get stopped with another kid to attend to.

It’s been hard through the winter but would love to do this more full time and quit one of my other jobs. Kids like to help out in the shop. I’m sure they will be on camera come summer time lol. Congrats on the newest addition!

Oh yea Visit the page and check out the finished video. I did end up leaving it bare metal and painted some of the chrome black. Working on an 1100 currently. Going a bit deeper with this build

I removed most paint, applied a salt water solution and let it rust slightly then clear coated with matte finish. ?? How did you remove the chrome fork covers?
@rev7garage
@rev7garage 6 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late reply I removed them during for disassembly when I lowered the forks. Another option is tape off the area, trim them and paint black to help hide them

I need a fender for my 1100 custom that I can throw a seat on from time to time for the wife when she wants to ride. What would you charge to do one?
@rev7garage
@rev7garage 2 жыл бұрын
The custom model fender is plastic and I haven’t really done much with them. I usually resell them and buy the classic fender which is metal. Easier for me to work with as far as cutting and welding trim If you brought me a fender I can cut it down, weld 1/4round trim and leave room for a passenger seat. The cutting and welding for that style fender is usually around $150 Canadian. Labour and material is included in that price. I don’t paint however

I was screaming leave it bare metal. Then the link to the hotrod came up. You know what you're doing :) . I may have missed it but speedometer going to sit on the left side of the tank ? Or is it a secret.

I think I’m going to GPS speedo this bike so it will be a removable piece on the bars so I can have a clean bare look when it goes to shows Your diggin the red/black/steel patina too eh?
@theobviouschicken
@theobviouschicken 3 жыл бұрын
@@rev7garage wow if you can do the gps thing that would be awesome. Not allowed in my state in oz you get tasered in the eyeball just for thinking about it. I like the rawness of the metal but that is just the love of machining in me. difficult choice you have nothing a bottle of paint stripper cant fix though.
