Yeah, all my friends laughed when i bought my first ek4 b16a , they all absolutely loved it after i took them for a drive and let them drive. Pure fun, 900kg, 160hp and unreal handling with some very basic mods. And another thing people sleep on is the gearing, 4.7 final drive with tight ratios in-between makes for a very happy snappy 160hp and sooo much fun

Nice to see an older Honda with the B16 engine, as God intended. I'm pretty sure he swapped in the final drive from a Type-R with 4.7 or 4.9 gears because of the wheel spin going into second and chirping 3rd. Also explains hitting top speed so quickly. Very cool video. For the owner : I think a bigger radiator will help with cooling. As I see now you have oem size. If you will get thicker it would help with temperatures. I need to get 4.9 fd for mine 😎
@koopatroopa1874 ай бұрын
Don't do the 4.9. Do the 4.7. I went to a 4.9 from the 4.7 and instantly wish I hadn't. 4.7 was always just right in the torque band, and the 4.9 was always above or below it.
@MotoHooked4 ай бұрын
@@koopatroopa187 Thanks for your advice !
@koopatroopa1874 ай бұрын
@@MotoHooked You're welcome. It also depends on the transmission you're using. But if you're using the Y21 transmission, or the similarly geared S80 Type R transmission, you're gonna want the 4.7. If you're using the longer geared GSR or LS transmission, the 4.9 might be pretty similar to the 4.7 in something like a Y21. but I'd double check with a gear ratio calculator before making any purchases. But yeah, I had a 4.7 final in my EG6 Civic SiR, but I changed to ITBs and Toda VTEC Killer cams and thought a 4.9 would work better cause I had a much higher rev range (10,000 RPM rev limiter), a power band from 5800 - 9600, and wasn't worried about top speed. But it was awful. With the 4.7, I was always in the torque curve of those cams and the car was phenomenal to drive. But with the 4.9 final, I was either below the torque curve, or I was too high in the rev range and the power was falling off. Also, I was much slower overall depending on the course design because I was having to sit on the rev limiter to prevent from having to upshift and then immediately downshift again.
