Awd ep3 here. I understand the wiring on the inside, as explained in this video. On the transmission plug side, I need to shave the plug to fit and cut the middle wire at the plug and run it to the MAP sensor for 5v power? Leaving the wire from the harness taped back into the harness

If you are going from the stock VSS to the Element's AWD transmission CSS, then you need to replace the plug. The only wire you will reuse is the signal wire. The other two wires, 5V power and logic ground, come from tapping into the MAP sensor.

Finally got around to getting it wired up. I wired the CSS plug as follows to no avail. Signal on plug to vss signal wire. Left the other two wires at the plug taped up. Wired the CSS 5v and ground to the map sensors 5v and ground. Changed to CSS in Kpro and have no luck. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks again for your time.

@@TreadShredders Did you try running the CSS with the 12v first? That will kill it. Recheck the position of the wires. The information for the position is holding the plug with the clip up with the wires facing you.

I didn't. I'll check the wires when I get home. I also used a spacer for the sensor as I screwed it in, it would make contact with the gear and the trans wouldn't move. Maybe it's too far away now. I'll check wires and sensor position

Not very clear on what specific ecu's made by hondata have this extra input wired in. Seems to be 50/50 in the comments. Is there a visual inspection you can make on the ecu to tell me?

It’s not really 50-50. The problem most people are having, is that their Kpro was not installed by Hondata. And that means this doesn’t work.

Man bout to give up on the speedo. Followed instructions on video to depin 101 and add wire from b11 to c101. Also have rewired css sensor from 12v to 5v from map power and wired ground to signal ground on map sensor. Kpro is switched to css still no movement. 06 K24a2, 02 ep3 factory harness, 05 rsx base trans in 99 civic hatch. What am I doing wrong?

I have a k20z3 engine/trans swap going into an mr2. Everything will be run on the 02-04 rsx type s engine harness. The speedometer on the mr2 is ran on the abs system. As far as the hondata k pro. Does it need this signal for the engine and trans to function correctly outside of the use of the speedometer or can I run it without this working correctly??

@@tomydespins2315 I don't know if the shop you used set the right jumper to output a speed signal. My understanding is only Hondata does it. But if you hook up B11 to your speedo and get a signal, then the company that installed the KPro did a good job and you can adjust the percentage in the Hondata software to get an accurate reading. And to answer the original question, the adjustment works with VSS or CSS.

Accord gear boxes don't have a VSS. They have a CSS. What car do you have?

@@lukeramoutar3419 All Accord K-series transmissions have a countershaft speed sensor or CSS. They pulse about 80 times faster than a vehicle speed sensor or VSS. So if you connect that to your dash, it will immediately send the needle all the way around at about 3 or 4 MPH. You need to follow the instructions in the video. The Hondata KPro can read the faster signal, but your will need to convert the output signal to something slower. .

I am in the process of doing this. Idk if it was covered but you make sure your countershaft speed sensor is receiving a 5v refrance signal like it was designed, simply splicing the countershaft speed sensor plug on is incorrect because the differential driven speed sensor receives 12v

I recently did this to my k24a2 with a type s rsx harness from an 02 and it doesn't read the speed at all. When I went into Kmanager I switched from the recommended choice which is css driven to the non vss option and it pegs the speedometer at 50mph. When I go and switch it back to css speed sensor on k manager it doesn't read neither on the ecu or the cluster and it doesn't throw a code.

I Actually did this because IDIOT, I mean previous owner of my swap installed an aftermarket L.S.D. Diff BUT did NOT put the ring gear back on for speed sensor. I’m not into working on transmissions though I’ve rebuilt engines. So just went the G.P.S. Route.

Even though the civic si speed sensor signal (frequency) is different from the d16 Speedo sensor to the cluster. I’m running KTUNER ECU.

@@BrianGillespie_brianathasport Thanks Brian I’m not sure what the NEP is and as for the Six speed gear box most guys I see on KZbin modify the gear box housing so it can run a CSS in the rear that has the ⚙️ operated sensor rather that the magnetic pulse sensor at the front of the gear box. I think I’m at the point where I’m just going to by a HUD ( Heads Up Display ) and run it from the data link or get a digital clock from a S2000 for it to work. Is NEP a speedo frequency converter?

You are giving the speedo the CSS signal which is many times faster than the VSS signal. You need to adjust the percentage output of the speedo to reduce the signal speed. Try starting with 10% and see where that gets you.

It's possible. If your ECU is set up to show a constant speed it may be activating the reverse lockout.

No, you will need to use a speedometer signal converter like the one sold by Dakota Digital or Healtech.

Run a speedometer conversion module like the one from Dakota Digital. Use the NEP on the E Plug to drive the tachometer. Add a the EM1 single wire temperature sensor to fee that info to the dash.

Do you have a Hondata ECU that Hondata did the install on? Then yes.

Basically 05-05 onward its CSS high frequecny signal your ecu is looking but that JDM tranny has VSS which operates on 12v and outputs a low frequency signal. So need to convert that low to high frequency using a converted like Dakota. But you can get car out of limp mode. There is an option in Flashpro about percentage adjustment to dash and ecu. just put 5000% there and the VTEC etc will work but speedo will still show very little speed. You will need a converted to get that speedo work.

Yeah should be the same for accord transmission as it uses a css as well. Yeah you'll have to repin for the css because it needs a different voltage than vss but you can use the same signal wire

If you have a vss harness and a css trans and I change the plug on the trans side would the wiring be the same for each plug or would the pins need to be moved around?

If you use the VSS wires, you will burn up the CSS. The VSS uses 12V and the CSS uses 5V. You need to use the 5V signal and sensor ground wires from the TPS (wired in parallel) with the Signal wire from A18 on the ECU.

I did this with an auto ecu had kpro installed by hondata but still no speed on cluster. Is there something else I have to do for an auto ecu with kpro

This doesn't work on the auto ECU. You will need to input the VSS signal on the daughterboard and then use a speed adapter such as the Dakota Digital, K-Tuned, Speedohealer, or others to convert the signal. There should be a write-up on the Hondata support page.

Hey Brian! I'm using a 2005 Accord 5-speed transmission with 2002 Rsx Base auto ECU on my 1999 K-swaped Integra. I know I have to de-pin A18 and wire it to the hondata board (red wire). Will this work with my setup or do I have to buy a VSS converter? My speed reach 158 mph as soon as I start driving. Thanks!

I have a rsx 02-04 with a transmission that I will be using countershaft vss, do I need to change this or this is only for k swaped vehicles?

You do. The car is looking for the slower sensor, not the faster countershaft speed.

Each sensor has its own required connector. If you change from one to the other you need to change the connector.

Where do u wire the signal wire from the css pig tail ?

Depending on the year, it is usually the grn/wht or blu/wht wire.

I'm running a css speed sensor on my gearbox and using a rsx 02-04 engine harness with a kpro v4 ecu. I'm not sure if I missed anything, but if i follow this video and change those wires from the c101 plug and linked it to the b plug as followed. do I have to alter the rsx plug wires to suit the css senor???? sounds like me finding this vedio may have saved my life
