You absolutely had no need to take off the drive, cranck, shaft rod at all,. You had to undo all the screws and the red cover comes out in a whole piece, and that is how you can get to the retracting spring coil system, it was unnecessary to take the unwashed shaft out.

Very Helpful. I needed to replace the shaft which fits into the clutch. So as the part was no longer available I was able to machine a shaft from another brand of machine. So before commencing I was able to see if this was possible by visually seeing the clutch hence why your video was very helpful. So why did I go to all this effort. Well the answer to that is, these little Homelite machines are normally very reliable and I enjoy repairing things. Once again thanks for sharing, (subscribed)

Good video. Had watched a video for another Homelite that I hoped would help with mine but it didn't really and I was stuck... then found this for the exact model. The hole in "pulley"was worn and the spring had broken out. Drilled new hole opposite... easy, and spring fitted great. Quite a bit of disassembly required but the video is pretty comprehensive. All done and it goes great again!

Do you have a tutorial on how to stop it from bogging? Which that model?
@bigwangmark2 жыл бұрын
Just putting mine back together today and forgot how the clutch parts went in after leaving it apart for so long so handy having your video to watch. If anyone is doing work on such engines and don;t have a piston stopper then after removing the spark plug you can use some really clean rope and inset enough into the cylinder so then it stops the piston as you move it back up. Old mechanics trick from the old days.

Hi All, the most important part to fix the issue was unfortunately not shown on the video but I did pulled it apart again and drilled a new hole on the pulley same diameter of the spring wire size and bent the spring stud/pin less than 90 degrees opposite to the direction of the pulley rotation to have a good grip/hook on the pulley. There are still three remaining provisions for drilling when it damage the new hole again before replacing with a new pulley.

Thanks for sharing. I have Homelite UT20024B Trim n Edger. I don't see the clutch assembly. Do you know where it is?
@Varietech-AU Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching our video. Your model is a direct drive and doesn't have a clutch. The pulley ratchet levers are built-in on the flywheel.

Thanks for the quick response. I was looking for the clutch as the unit was not idling enough and the string head was rotating while idling. So, with direct drive the string head will be rotating. correct. But do you know what causes the idling or the unit to stop after a few seconds. I adjusted both the black screws on the carb. I also adjusted the idle speed screw clockwise. What do I need to change to keep the unit running in idle.

Nice tutorial how do fix weed eater the model that bogs I changed both fuel lines because they were brittle and lines had cuts. I cleaned the carburettor,tip the old fuel out replace with clean fuel and because it’s 2 stroke messed with the high and idle screw but it’s still bogging down when I pull the trigger,maybe I didn’t put the fuel filter set in the middle on the bottom of the tank or the intake hose is to long. I have no idea

Hey. So I've done all you said but when I go put the cover on to the crank it doesn't sit properly .the backing plate scrapes on the crank wheel
@Varietech-AU2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, It must be the spring pull assist is not sitting properly or deformed that prevents the starter ratchet from sitting properly against the starter pulley underneath. If you thing everything is properly in placed but still touching or scraping against the plate then you can bend and adjust all three tabs which are touching. VARIETECH

You really need to get Nitrile gloves, those 'heavy duty' ones from Woolworths are junk especially with petrol involved, they rip just looking at them
