Nice one Harry, the bivvy bag looks the same as the British one I've got size wise and you're right, you can get a few things that benefit from body warmth in with you. Phones and power banks, gas canisters etc.... I'm no stranger to the pie stand either so take up a fair bit myself. Don't know if you've tried it (or if it would work with the cheap tarp) but instead of dedicated poles, walking poles can be used as uprights etc. Keep the vids coming mate, thanks for sharing your experiences. Andy

That is indeed the British bivvybag. the RNLA doens`t have a non hooped bivvy bag, except the plain green goretex bivvy belonging to the M90 sleepsystem. The Dutch DPM is allso slightly different from the British. It doenst have the small dots around the pattern`s colours.

Hi mate, hope you are well. Good video 👍🏼 That’s a British Army issue Bivi bag you have there...it’s the same as the one I was issued. The green lace is indeed impossible to cinch closed. I replaced the lace with a length of paracord, and this solves the problem, you can cinch it completely closed. Hope this helps. Thanks, Allan

Allan Shillinglaw brilliant advice, I’ll do just that with para cord, problem solved. Atb Harry

Well done Harry!... Your almost mirrored with the kit I've taken... Getting the kits weight down to a basic is a must... As long as you have the basics you can have that Extra room for foods...spot on mate 👍

A very good review as always from you Harry. I'm not sure if a bivi is my thing but I may give it a try next spring / summer to see if I like it. I have the very same tarp too, like you say, quite tough and very water proof and light. I've been toying with the idea of getting myself a bergen, there's a few on ebay. One thats caught my eye is only 14 quid but maybe missing a clasp or something.
@FlyingHaggisFilms6 жыл бұрын
That's a good price for a bergen, the large long back is always best for Autumn to spring for the extra kit we need, good luck. Atb Harry

I am wondering if that sleeping bag would fit into one of the standard bergan side pockets, when was using my 120lt one the s/bag went in 1 side & the tarp & hammock the other side, leaving more space in the main pack, excellent kit choices btw atb Barry
@FlyingHaggisFilms6 жыл бұрын
Brilliant, I can see that would work but feel a rocket side pouch would be third too small for the bag, so I like the idea of waterproofing using the bivi bag in the main section as the only option I have uther than using my compression bag and strapping to the under side. Atb Harry

Which Carinthia bag is that ??? , I thought the Carinthia has the centre zipper
@FlyingHaggisFilms4 жыл бұрын
Hi David, you are spot on regarding centre zip, but thus Carinthia is a side zip, may need a summer bag inside to handle sub zero conditions after all. Atb. Harry
@davidthompson16224 жыл бұрын
Flying Haggis Films I’ve got the Carinthia defence 4, and the lightweight British army bag fits inside it very well.....the loops and ties match up, and the British lightweight bag is only about £35 , compared to Carinthia lightweight £100. ......enjoyed the review Harry, like those poles for the basha , which poles are they please ?
