[VTUBER] Reaction to Official Arknights Discovering Terra 1-3

Arknights is tower defence, so if you're into the genre you'll have great fun. If not, ymmv regarding how much you enjoy it. The world of Terra takes strong inspiration from irl history and geopolitics from different time periods, sometimes with a twist, so there's a pretty huge variety in terms of the advancement of different regions. To give you the rundown of some of the game's countries and real-world equivalents: Ursus = Somewhere between tsarist and modern Russia Yan = China Lungmen = Hong Kong Leithania = Germanic countries, but extremely obsessed with the arts, and Arts (Arts here referring to the in-universe term for their magic system) Sargon = Mix of Africa and the Middle East Victoria = UK, with a focus on Victorian era sensibilities and the longstanding tensions between the British (referred to in-universe as Victorians) and the Irish (referred to in-universe as Tarans). Kazimierz = Poland, but hyper-capitalist, with a thriving blood sport entertainment industry. Iberia = Spain, was previously extremely powerful and advanced due to their relations with another country but a Lovecraftian Hivemind Horror came out of the ocean and wrecked it, so it's currently on its last legs, barely held together by the Terran version of the Spanish Inquisition. Bolivar = Latin America Columbia = America, but extremely science focused and cavalier when it comes to ethics, the latter of which some might say also applies to modern America. Laterano = If you took the Vatican, populated it with mostly angels who have some kind of racial empathy, and made America's second amendment one of the ten commandments. Also its main population (a.k.a. said angels) love sweets and explosions. Aegir = Functionally Atlantis, and was one of the reasons behind Iberia's earlier prosperity. They might have been the ones who poked the Lovecraftian Hivemind Horror a bit too hard, and mysteriously vanished. They did create some powerful supersoldiers to fight the monsters, but that's a story for another time (or when you get into the game). There's also Siracusa, which I don't think was covered in the videos but is basically Italy when the mob ran everything. I'm sure I missed some, and there's a whole lot more, but if you're curious here's an extremely abridged rundown. Hope this helped.

It definitely reminded me of those influences a lot. I used to study countries and various cultures on my own time so did manage to grasp some references within the world. I enjoy it. It's a good stand off point but also a good way to develop your own unique world. I am going to be definitely starting my own playthrough of Arknights at some point. I actually quite enjoy tower defence. I play another similar game called Path to Nowhere (albeit with different mechanics) currently.

@theobsxrver I too play PTN. I'm not the biggest fan, but that's mostly because I prefer preparation based gameplay, and PTN is too reactive for me. The production value is pretty insane though, for a gacha game.

@@somethingeasy333 I enjoy both playstyles, ultimately. Kicking back and enjoying the fruit of my labor is equally as interesting to me as sweating my hands off trying to react to everything in time and yeeting each unit in their right spot.

a quick explanation of nomadic city is that their massive flat tracked vehicles with a city on top of them, large city has several of these connected to each other. The A1 arknights manga has some pretty good looks and even a full panal showing just how massive they engines are, think oil tanker engines but the important part is the fuel, originium is mad energy dense head an above anything we have (except maybe nuclear?), if your familiar with tiberium from CnC that.... along with the debilitating rock cancer that comes from exposure hence why cities move. originium storms can wipe out populations of people through damage and infection

Ahhh. I see i see. Yeah okay fair enough so the set up is very similar to the Tiberium wars with Orange and Red zones being the entire place and you having travelling green zones around the place, correct?

@@Theodore_LocusCh yeah, with the added effect that the industry around originium often makes the problem worse through pollution which not a good idea with a tiberium like thing so often blue zones are blue because its got less advanced civilizations that and moving large distances away from your energy source makes logistics pretty difficult

Incase no one states this in the chat, nomadic cities are on treads and they can separate the districts out in their own "land ships" to basically move faster or get around natural obstacles, they are huge as some have mountain ranges, while others have artificial freshwater oceans and many other things. edit: someone did lol

Not going to go in details about nian here lets just say she is a fan favorite and have some of the weirdest powers, her and her family lol

Yan is like group of independed cities and states that are united under one flag and covers each other in case of emergency. 3:25 "...understand Lungmen... Lungmen?... Langmen?..." - Correction: 1st two pronounses are correct, comes from word lung (not the organ one with which you breathe) which basically means Eastern Dragon. 3:56 "So its like science nation" - Slight correction: I would rather call this place Traditional Learning Nation since Leithanians are quite memorable people and respects their past. They have lots of secrets and knowledge from their elders, masters and famous people of previous era that affects a lot into their studying proccesses and ending nation becoming one of the most studied ones. 4:41 "How does one in heaven (heh) is nomadic city?"- Answer: Nomadic Cities are indeed move. Not flying, walking on legs or gets carried by its citizens (lol) but rides on giant tracks. Rhodes Island (Company led by Amiya, Kaltsit and You as the Doctor) is also one of them and they tend to be huuuge. For referense: Rhodes Island the same height of 30 floor building, wide as 5 football fields and long as 12 of them while being carried above the ground the same height of 5 floor buidling on double tracks overall wide as half of football field on both sides. And Rhodes Island isnt the biggest one, some of cities (Lungmen for example) are consist of several Nomadic cities connected to each other and have an actual city on top of them even tho they already can hold thousands of people inside just fine. That is how gigantic they are. Also correction of comment on 8:15 - Not "Originium Storn" but The Catastrophies. Those happens 'cause of huge density of Active Originium in one place to which these basically gets drag to. These climatic disasters have many forms based on local climate but msot often are meteorite showers. Catastrophy Messengers, one of the most important jobs for Terra colonizers, can predict where and when they will accure so these cities can move out of danger just to live another few days at least in safety. Out of Danger that brings a lot of Originium and polution that infects people with Oripathy, noncurable disease. 13:20 "So basically they turned war games into Esports kind of thing?" - Answer: Correct. Nation of Kazimierz have a lot of knights all over the place so high authority people decided to make profit out of it by getting these games ongoing for entertainment and profit purposes. Im keeping it short since there's ltos of lore that must to be discovered on your own if you start playing. 13:33 "What type of game it is?" Answer: If you're talking about what Arknights is then speaking the game its a Tower Defense game with a lot of strategy parts. It may look like Bloons TD type of game but its mnot about building defense and keep upgrading it like crazy man that goes for stats, no. Its about using limited in power units strategically and depending on their powers, map layout, enemies weaknesses and positioning since your "towers" (which are in-game called Operators) can be easily get killed if you're underestimating your opponents. However if you're talking about what these Esport type of competitions in Kazemierz is then its simulated 1v1 battles between trained knights from all over the world under any teams logos for the title of The Champion, Profit and Glory. 15:16 "Now thats is a Russian reference" - Correction: Its just one of in-game ads going around the places. Also Привет fellow Russian speaker. 15:19 "What is Yan? Is it type China, Japan or something?" - Answer: Not Japan but yeah its China. For Japan we have Higashi which is still not covered both by Terra Exploration vids or in-game events. Thats should be all for this video. Feel free to ask more. Sutting down... To be fair, most Arknights music video are character themes, so if you hear praises towards Victoria in the song, it's because of character's idealistic view of this country. Not saying Victoria is worst place to live but neither is perfect like most places in the world.
