Technically *three* Aeldari gods survived Slaanesh's birth; Slaanesh didn't kill Khaine due to the latter pulling a "YOU DIDN'T WIN" by blowing himself up and wounding Slaanesh in the process. He just now exists in the many fragments of him that scattered throughout the galaxy.

Khaine "lives" through his various fragments (it's why the Avatars of Khaine exist) because rather than get devoured by Slaanesh, he opted to go out on his own terms and hopefully kill She Who Thirsts in the process by blowing himself up.

The Eldar are sort of a commentary on the hedonic treadmill. Each faction represents a different way of dealing with the ennui and alienation that comes with excessive material comfort: Drukhari: Embrace the treadmill and keep seeking greater thrills, no matter the consequences. Craftworld Eldar/Asuryani: Go Buddhist. Seek to transcend your desires entirely. Harlequins: Art. Devote yourself to creation, just to create. Exodites (not mentioned by Bricky, but covered in _The Infinite and the Divine_ ): Primitivism. Leave your modern comforts behind and start from scratch, just for the sake of having a challenge.

Some interesting little things that Bricky wasn't able to cover about the Chaos Gods. Khorne again doesn't look kindly on backstabbing and one time one of his most powerful Bloodthirsters (Big Red Demons with wings) named Skarbrand did the unthinkable. See Skarbrand was so powerful he could level cities with a swing of his Axes, but one day whether it was Tzeentch's manipulation or his boundless rage dulling his judgment, he decided to potshot Khorne. He hit him with a blow that could annihilate New York & all it did was barely scuff Khorne's armor. So Khorne in his anger choked the PERSONALITY out of Skarbrand then hurled him across the stars just so years later he'd land in the mortal realm & go on a mindless rampage. Yeah I don't know why but all of Tzeentch's followers have a bird ascetic the higher you get in his favor. Like Kairos Fateweaver (the two headed one you saw) who one head sees the future and another sees the past but neither can comprehend the present. Just to give you a taste of Nurgles duality and Slaanesh's domination (😉): Slaanesh when she/he/it was born it not only devoured all Eldar souls they could but then went on to slaughter all but 3 Eldarian Gods. Cegorach the Laughing God escaped into the Web Way, Khaine the God of War got his shit pushed in but was scattered into millions of shards but technically isn't dead, and the Isha the Goddess of Harvest and Fertility. Isha was captured by Slaanesh and taken back to their realm. But before she could suffer what i can only imagine would have been a terrible fate, Papa Nurgle led his hoard personally into Slaanesh's realm and rescued her. Romantic right? Then he married Isha and now has her test out all his different concoctions of Disease, Rot, etc.. in his constant attempt at making more powerful illnesses. Because she being a god who represents Aspects of Life if she dies or gets permanently ill then he'd be close to perfection. But Isha being patient and smart developes cures from her body and hands it down to her worshippers.

you forgot to tell that at first kairos fateweaver is just a normal greater demon of tzeench. a lord of change, not a two headed bird. until one day tzeench in their infinite wisdom decided to chuck some daemons into the well of souls. a source of energy that said predates even the warp and some said that something is in there.As to why tzeench chuck some daemons? he is obsessed with knowing the future, anyway kairos and some other daemons thrown into the well, however only kairos survived, changed, with two head like you said. BUT kairos knows sonething that even tzeench doesnt knows, as daemons are a part of their gods meaning whatever climb iut of the well is not kairos fateweaver

There's actually an infinite amount of Gods in the warp, Gods are our emotions and thoughts given sentience from enough people believing in something. (Its just the main 4 are the most powerful) So theoretically if enough people believe in a pink cockroach girl goddess, then we can create it

@scorpixel1866
@scorpixel1866 Жыл бұрын
@@dynomight3855Gods need a critical mass of belief (believers x warp presence) in order to be created, and wither away from lack of it. They are very much finite, same for all warp entities, as there is a limited amount of sentient beings' emotions they can feed on. The Warp is vast and treacherous, minor Gods can survive as long as they stay low from bigger fishes, who most of the time wouldn't bother anyway due to the already massive influx they receive along the need to keep the other three in line of sight.

@cabnbeeschurgr 3 ай бұрын
@@xdragoonzero0 That's certainly an optimistic way of looking at it, but I feel like one of the biggest points of 40k is that war is a constant across everything. There are periods of peace, but all types of conflict that are deified in the chaos gods are the base state of any species.

When I first heard of the dark eldar, my friend gave an example why they do what they do. Imagine cup of fine wine to represent their soul, and the connection to Slaanesh is like her constantly sipping away at the top. To do nothing is to eventually be consumed by her, so the torture and horrors they do to people would be like them taking the psychic energy created from the trauma of their victims and topping the glass with cheap wine for her to suck on instead their soul. By having successfully staving her off by just doing what birthed her, their society continues be as they are and find joy that they avoided oblivion by just being themselves

They specialize in flesh crafting and are the guys that are responsible for reviving Dark Eldar when they die, and the creation of Scourges, Pain Engines, Grotesques, and turning slaves into couches. They’re able to sculpt flesh almost as if it were clay and they love to graft various bodyparts to themselves, sometimes for work and other times out of boredom or curiosity. Like, one Haemonculus might graft an Ork head somewhere on their body because he finds how it talks to be funny, for instance.

57:35 my fan theory is that it's not that Tyranids are coming from multiple places, but that they all came from one galaxy and some of them awkwardly went around to the other side of the Milky Way just to then come in from that side and then timed it so that each branch enters the galaxy at around the same time to make themselves look bigger as a psychological warfare tactic like how a wolf pack splits up to drive prey and surround them. That's just funnier to me, and as an Ork player, my headcanon is whatever the funnier version is, no matter what the actual canon says.

12:29 that's a Screamer of Tzeentch. Basically, Daemons can be generally classified into 4 main categories: Greater, Lesser (with Heralds given a new form and a leadership role as a promotion), Beasts, and Mounts. The Screamer is Tzeentch's type of Beast, essentially being like a flying mix between a Manta Ray and a Shark. They can chew through nearly everything with their tusks and lamprey mouths and leave trails of shimmering change magic in their wake like a plane's contrail. However, sometimes Tzeentch will reward a follower, in which case he grabs a Screamer and binds it with various metal bands and blades, turning it into a Disc of Tzeentch, which is Tzeentch's type of mount. Also, if you’re wondering, the rest of Tzeentch's daemons are categorized as follows Greater: Lords of Change Lesser: Flamers, Exalted Flamers, Horrors (Pink, Blue, and Brimstone) Heralds: Fateskimmers, Fluxmasters, Changecasters. Beasts: Screamers Mounts: Discs of Tzeentch

Which is kind of what happened when the Ynnari came about. The Dark Eldar love what they do. If they could save themselves another way, they’d do that but still keep up torturing. The fact that it stops them from dying is really just a bonus to them and gives them an excuse to keep doing all of this.

My favourite detail about the Harlequins is that no one in the other factions of Eldar has the balls to do anything to them, there's one moment I remember (forgive me I don't recall the books name) where Lelith (an extremely powerful member of the Wyches who are entertainers/gladiators for the Dark Eldar Upper Class) has the urge to fight one of the Great Harlequins...and all the Great Harlequin does is look at her, shake his head, and it immediately makes Lelith back off and not try anything, that is the influence and power being a Harlequin has, they are free to go basically anywhere they want within Eldar society and will put on incredible performances telling Eldar legends

My favorite Ork fact that they get stronger and smarter through fighting, so the longer a battle goes on, the bigger they get and the better their tech gets. Trayzn the Pokemaster has in his collection a full blooded Krork, when Orks more then two brain cells to rub together. It had power armor better then what space marines have, high tech weapons, and supposedly had advanced tactics; they supposedly got this way because of the universe spanning War in Heaven.

35:01 Well, there is a way for that to happen, but it requiers you to be a pretty good psycker already. So basically, either the Inquisition or the Grey Knights (I can't remember which one) has you make eye contaxt with the Emperor for 1 or 3 seconds, and you get your Warp powers changed around and strengthened, and your soul will automatically go to the Emperor upon death. The Emperor is also strengthened after he gets the psyckers soul.

Some things missed we're the Exodite and Ynnari Eldar. Basically the Exodites are like the Craftworld Eldar except terrestrial and they have dinosaurs. The Ynnari worship the Eldar Death God, Ynnead who is prophesized to defeat Slaanesh when they fully awaken. Orkz Waagh can't bend time and space to do anything, it's more like momentum. What is does is help Ork stuff work but they still have to make things at least somewhat functional. Necrons section is a mix bag of accuracy. Overarching is overall accurate. The Tau's evil is more subtle, a reoccurring thing is aliens joining them and slowly dying out. However there is a pure good faction in the form of the Farsight Enclaves who funny enough solve the dislikes of the Tau. Tabletop they engage up close with Mechs, Flamers, and Shotguns. Also the reason they're good is because they don't have any Ethereals who are the reason the Tau are evil.

While the Tau do very much have a 1984-type thing going on and the Ethereals will gladly send any dissidents to be “re-educated” or worse, recent Tau stuff’s been pretty consistently showing that the auxiliary species do actually get to survive and the Tau are being genuine with including them within the Greater Good (besides the 4th Sphere, who have done quite a bit of genocide because of warp trauma). Heck, there’s enough auxiliaries with psychic potential to generate a Goddess of the Greater Good (albeit she’s a pretty weak god).

I love these reactions! I hope you do more! My favorite theory about the Tyranids comes from the only psyker who survived going into their hive mind. A superpowerful eldar mage went into the mind of a Tyranid commander and he saw a giant, dark, godlike mind controlling ALL the tyranids in the universe AT THE SAME TIME. He had to get out immediately not to die and be sucked in by this dark entity. So, many believe the Tyranids may be the army of a horrifying Eldritch God. Or maybe there is a QUEEN like insect somewhere in the universe that can control all the Tyranids... who knows? Also: The krorks were very smart tech masters since birth, they were born with the knowledge of how to make war machines, which is how orks can create the machines they have. Krorks were more powerful than orks simply because they knew how to manipulate their imagination gift to manipulate reality. Once the war in heaven was over, the smartest and peaceful Krorks were killed by other, more violent factions that only knew war. Those started fighting each other for millions of years until they became the silly boyz they are now. I watched 4 one hour videos about The Emperor of Mankind's history/timeline. Even though it's not stream reaction material, I would love to see you react to a longer, more complex timeline about The Emperor or warhammer. The Tau btw became how they are because they became a "utopic' and communist civilization very early on. The space Dwarves also have an amazing history, they are "human" survivors from the Dark Age of Tech who are artificially born superior from a hive super machine with AI.

That's just... no. The Tau mind control thing is a vast overstatement of what's going on. The Ethereals cannot mind control, it's more like, they suggest things in a way that you feel foolish that you didn't think of those things. Furthermore, what I just described can only work if the one the Ethereal is talking to believes them, or is in agreement with them. The Ethereal's can't make you believe there's no war when your city is currently undergoing orbital bombardment, for example. We also know that the Ethereals can be lied to, even when the person they're talking to believes them, as seen with Farsight when he believed in the Ethereals, but that their abilities fail when the target clearly doesn't trust them. For example, despite being told that he's a traitor to the Greater Good, the people of Farsight's homeworld quietly see him as a figure of their world.

11:24 Ye. Kairos' lord is interesting. Even Tzeentch dares not enter the Well of Eternity at the very centre of reality, where space and time originate and end, the vast receptacle of knowledge at the heart of the Impossible Fortress. The Great Sorcerer, mighty though he is, cannot be sure of survival within the inky currents of infinity. Still the Well of Eternity holds great sway over Tzeentch’s mind, for it is the one puzzle he cannot solve, and the one mystery he cannot know - a challenge almost painful in its intensity. It was in the cause of understanding that Tzeentch hurled Kairos, a Lord of Change known as the Fateweaver to mortals, into the foreboding depths of the Well. While the Great Sorcerer was not prepared to risk his own being in such a venture, he had no such misgivings at risking one of his servants in such a fashion. So instead he sent his Lords of Change, but none of them ever returned. Finally, Tzeentch grabbed his vizir Kairos and cast him into the well. This time, Kairos survived, just. But when he resurfaced, Kairos was unnaturally aged, hunched and wizened. His mighty pinions were reduced to feeble vestigial remains, and he now had two heads. Henceforth, Kairos held both the knowledge of the future and the resulting insanity, and sits at Tzeentch's right side as his Oracle. He is constantly mumbling madly, and suddenly bursting into rambling tirades about events still to happen. Eighty-one Lords of Change are tasked with recording every word of the Oracle. A few mighty individuals, mortal and Daemon alike, are granted an audience with the Oracle for the completion of the most challenging of tasks for Tzeentch. The Oracle knows the answer to all questions; but only one head will always answer the truth, while the other simultaneously delivers a contradictory answer, which is false but equally believable. The resulting riddle invariably leaves the petitioner baffled. Since he clawed his way back from the Well after years uncounted within its depths, Kairos, known also as the Oracle of Tzeentch, Keeper of the Destiny Scrolls, and Mocking Watcher, can see things that are hidden even to Tzeentch. His right head sees possible futures as clear as day. No scheme is hidden from its sight and the infinite possibilities of tomorrow crystallise into irrefutable fact. Kairos’ left head sees the past without the petty colourations of perspective and bias. Past and future pulse through a body shrivelled and twisted by its passage through the Well. Valuable as this vision is, it comes with a heavy cost. Both of Kairos’ heads are blind to the present; he cannot see time as it passes - only events that are to come or whose time has already lapsed.

I think it's worth pointing out a difference in the fandom between the Old Necrons and the New Nekrons. (Commonly known as Newkrons) During...maybe 4th-5th edition, Nekrons were all of them unthinking, unfeeling murder machines. The Terminator on an army wide scale, guided by Eldritch Gods known as C'tan. That's why if you play Dawn of War 1, none of them speak. Only the Paraiah Nekrons, made out of humans with the Paraiah would. And those have been retconned out of existance. The Newkrons are effectivly the Tomb Kings in space. Same deal. The Overlords are the only ones thinking, the rest are mindless. And the C'tan are no longer the shadow entity behind the killing, but their pokemons. I can't exactly tell when the re-writing happened. I believe in 6th edition but I could be wrong.

To understand why Slaanesh is especially obsessed with devouring Eldar souls, you gotta understand Chaos Gods and souls in general. Think of a soul as food. A regular soul from a human for instance is essentially like unseasoned chicken breast and rice. It fills you but it's not that tasty. The stronger a soul is however, the more tasty it is. A human psyker's soul is like that same chicken breast but with way better seasoning and a bit of condiment on the side. Eldar were created to near perfection by the Old One in both body and soul, so Eldar soul is basically like an A5 wagyu steak. Now, since Slaanesh was created by the Eldar and is now inextricably linked to them, she has an even greater desire for them, like the equivalent of you having both raised/grown all of your ingredients and cooked them at optimal freshness (and is almost like gaining a part of herself too since she is made of a lot of Eldar souls). And so when it comes to the Dark Eldar especially, since they’re so depraved as well, they’re basically like an A5 wagyu steak is also covered in gold leaf and has caviar on the side with a glass of fine wine with every ingredient having been hand made and at perfect freshness while also feeling more complete afterwards. That, is why Slaanesh loves Eldar souls so much.

The Old Ones made the Eldar as a practically perfect race, and they feared that the Eldar would turn against them. To fix that, they made Eldar physical reproduction really fast, but new souls only rarely pop up. Instead, Eldar souls reincarnated, meaning Eldar reproduce real fast unless they betray the Old Ones, in which case they just grab all the Eldar souls after death and stop reproduction. Unfortunately, Slaanesh redirected the Reincarnation Funnel directly into her mouth.

20:21 yeah. It's a headache. GW, the authors, and the fans have no idea wtf is going on with them. They’re less mysterious and more cryptic af. The best way I’ve heard them described is that "it's like a mystery novel written by someone who doesn’t know how to write a mystery". Hey, at least their colour scheme is cool. Love the scales.

If The dark eldar ONLY torture to survive and treated it more like a chore instead of enjoying it, they would be an actually interesting faction

Bricky actually gets a few things about the Eldar wrong. For one, the Craftworlders didn't all escape. Many Craftworlds were lost entirely, shattered by Slaanesh's birth scream, which also claimed the lives of trillions of Humans, Orcs, and other creatures across the Galaxy. Secondly, he entirely misses the Exodites, who were the first to flee their societies collapse. They're basically Space Elf Amish, and forego most advanced technology in favour of living an agrarian life on the fringes of the galaxy. As far as the Eldar go... Eldar Souls remain entirely conscious when they enter the Warp. Prior to the Fall, they would actually reincarnate, memories intact. Their psychic potential is also immense compared to Humans. If a Human is a candle, an Eldar is a bonfire. This combination of influences means that Eldar Souls are highly coveted by the Eldar Gods, and are typically just too delicious to resist. But because of their connection to Slaanesh, Eldar Souls NORMALLY go to Slaanesh, unless they directly pledge themselves to another or save their soul in an Infinity Circuit. Pledging ones self to a Chaos God, however, is a dangerous game for an Eldar, because they need to constantly offer more than their own souls value to stave off their patrons hunger. I may... Be a little too into the Eldar. Something to justify 12,500 points of them...

I think one of the reasons he didn't mention the Exodites was that they are not a playable faction. But otherwise yes, you are correct.

49:28 that is a haemonculus. They are (in the loosest, and most generous sense of the words) the “doctors” and “medics” of the Dark Eldar. Many of them are as old as the Fall of the Empire, and are masters of “flesh-crafting.” They pretty much grow and subsequently graft extra limbs onto themselves to assist in their torture rooms/surgical bays. These guys are VERY expensive to hire, but for good reason: if you get blown to bits, they can actually BRING YOU BACK TO LIFE. Provided your buddies find enough of your bits.

Slight note on the Tau. There is a rumor/theory that some of the necrontyr were lost/left the war in heaven before it started and probably got absorbed or thrown into the future from a warp accident, and they ended up on the Tau planet with the warp storm. And it is said that they might be the somewhat mysterious and elusive eternal cast of the town (which is more or less the people in charge of the Tau empire).

For anyone who doesn't understand why the Tau advanced so quickly: in the Warhammer 40k universe, war is ever-present and consumes all aspects of culture, not just stifling, but regressing societies. Due to a massive unbreachable warp storm, he Tau had 6000 years of peace with no in-fighting and developed technologically and socially beyond the others.

Funny thing about the Tau. While it's not really a confirmed thing but apparently Commander Farsight is an unofficial Char Aznable clone. It's broken down to: a.) His mech is red and, last I heard, performs 3x better than the standard model but I could be wrong. b.) He's somewhat a hero of his faction but he is at odds with the established governing body. c.) If I am misremembering, his rival in the Tau is Shadowsun, who is a redhaird pilot who uses a white mech.
