You should consider using Everbilt copper tube straps at Home Depot instead of aluminum connectors. It's only $3 for 5. Copper would be much more conductive. Also J-B Weld 8 oz. ClearWeld Pro for $16 would work great for your other projects.
@vuaeco4 жыл бұрын
Those copper tube straps have a little bump in the middle so it'll need to be hammered flat before it can be used. But sure, it looks like a good candidate for this project. Aluminum is still a very good conductor. I use aluminum because I have a lot of them and they are easy to work on.

Awesome video. I am trying to make a power PLUG for my Macbook (old school model) 85 Watt into to carry with me instead of buying a $300 Power Bank. Ryobi sells their battery and their power adapter that accepts a grounded 3-prong plug into. Why does not Kobalt offer this? No idea. The USB adapter is very helpful, but, my laptop MUST have a 3-prong outlet. WIthout having to do what you have done here (I am great with so much...but, electricity? Noo....! Any suggestions? Thank for your time.

nice work. I'm trying to find a way to go the other direction. I want to power up my hoover air vacuum. I haven't found any success. I have been running leads into the vacuum with the ryobi battery. Am I missing something? Do you think the hoover has authentication contact to disallow other battery packs from being used? If so any way around this?
@martinmuldoon603 Жыл бұрын
Hi hello, I've tried to power my evergreen battery lawn mower using a cheaper 40v aldi ferrex activ energy but it would spin 3 seconds and then cut out. Manufacturers of these power tools want to milk is consumers as much as possible that's why every tool has a different knoch, attaching mechanism, reversed terminal points, etc, recently the now have a built in electronic hand shake communication unique to the brand so even if you supply the correct voltage etc the unit won't run, much like a password on your smartphone to stop other using it, no doubt more tool builders will add this to prevent hot wiring like our friend has done. I expect your vacuum is like that, dyson is definitely like that, if fact if you run a dyson too flat or damage a cell, even if you repair the damage cell the control module PCB has to be reprogrammed by linking it to a computer, so hacks like this are getting more and more difficult.
@cameranmanner4701 Жыл бұрын
@@martinmuldoon603 I was able to connect my ryobi battery, by using /adding a 1 ohm resistor on the 3rd terminal (measures voltage) contact. This does cause a issue with low voltage cut off with batteries that do not have a internal lvc. Sadly I dumped the project as the ryobi battery makes it difficult to mount due to its stem. You may have better success with your battery by adding a resistor. But in your case the resistance may differ.

Test the voltage output of your power supply. Also, try and connect your power supply to a "Kill-A-Watt" to see if it would consume any power? If it does, it's charging. Or just touch your charger after you plug it in for 10-15 minutes. It should get warm. If not, it's not charging.

You probably ought to learn a little bit more about the electricity before you start doing this type of thing, but since you have ... Every mass produced electrical motor is under-volted by design. No company wants to be the one who's vacuum cleaners blenders or tools start catching fire in someone's home. And about 18 volt and 20 volt Max batteries they are exactly the same not pretty much exactly both are nominal 18.5 vdc and are made up of strings of 5 nmc lithium cells wired in series. They are exactly the same. A 24 volt battery has 6bcells and 36 volt and 40v Max have 10, etc. Of course if you really are concerned and you should be because you might catch your shit on fire, you can always lower the voltage by adding some resistance of course it will create heat that you have to dissipate or you might catch yourself on fire. Anyway come on man get a brilliance subscription or something and learn about what you are doing.
