Another nice review Robin. My favourite WS Q400 route is YCD or YVR to YYC in the evening, just fantastic views with the Rockies lit up by the sunset.

I never liked sitting in line with the prop on a dash 8, something disconcerting about seeing it whirling away right there. Otherwise I always enjoy prop planes though! Good to have new reports again Robin!

I flew Encore about a year and 1/2 ago, YYT to YHZ. You are correct, there is no onboard service on these regional flights, so that’s normal. The aircraft is pretty decent, with limited comforts. I enjoyed the experience. Note: Maybe now, during pandemic times with less travellers , would be a great time for airlines to address the issue of reclining seats.
