Vukovi means "Wolves" in Croatian
@benefitsurvivalguideАй бұрын
technically Serbian, but yes. the old band back in 2010/11 was called WOLVES but Hamish needed a new singer and janine was kicked out of another band. Then they decided to whack WOLVES into Google translate to see what would sound belter. That's when they came up with VUKOVI. and now it's a household name in the pop punk, alt rock and post hardcore scenes.

Interesting … don’t prefer the simulating of having sex with a giant teddy bear and the lyrics of convincing yourself to be ok with your sin 😂 if I’m wrong about my interpretation then let me know. Great voice and music nonetheless
@mackenziedesire7515Ай бұрын
I don't think it's convincing yourself to be okay with your sin, but rather overcoming the stigma/idea that sex itself is a sin? Or at least that's how I was reading it, I feel like that's kind of a theme in Vokuvi tracks. But you can definitely add me to the not preferring the teddy bear riding list. *And* he got stabbed in the end? Poor guy got straight up mantis'd 😬

@@mackenziedesire7515 I got a darker impression from this song. I interpret many of their songs to be about toxic relationships; La Di Da, Mercy Kill and Violent Minds at least. I think this one may be about the duality of that kind of relationship, having that passion and desire, perhaps fueled by the (mental) violence. Like: 'Make way for a type O' = if they are referring to the blood type, then it's compatible with everyone. That she isn't picky with who she's with? Or that she's okay with doing everything with her partner? 'Got me feeling like I'm gungho' = the feeling of being obsessed, ecstatic, perhaps especially in relation to going to war (depending on whether it's the new or old version of the word gungho) 'Whip back like a rifle' = ??? 'Make me cry before the night goes' = again, I interpret this as either mental of physical violence being the cause of her tears And they end with: 'Oh night rain I wanna play' = ??? 'I don’t stop cos I’m not pray' = it might be violent, but she want the violence 'Pull me back with violence' = figuratively pulling her back into the relationship with violence 'And I wish this kiss ate my body and my hungry lips alive' = again, a depiction of her desire 'Pull me back with violence.' 'And I’d die for this, at your mercy' = could be a reference to 'le petit mort', depicting her desire 'We’re living in an act of war' = ...followed by the duality of the violent relationship If you have any other interpretations of these verses, feel free to share, I would love to know!
@mackenziedesire75155 сағат бұрын
@@Orthilia That's fair, and I definitely get what you mean with those themes being present throughout a lot of their songs! I think I've just been reading it as more of a controlled violence, like maybe bdsm/other fetish stuff? Although, of course, those can also become toxic just like any other relationship. It just seems like older songs seemed to be more about recognizing and overcoming actual abusive violence, whereas newer songs seem to frame it more as an active desire/choice, if that makes sense? That said, I haven't looked for any interviews or anything to confirm/deny any of this, so I may just be looking on the bright side, lol!
