This is the my second video on the MigMax 215. In edit I seem to have chopped off my introduction so now we start at remove if the ten pound spool adapter. The important bits are still here as I go through the setup needed to get started. Also to weld with shielding gas. I make some sparks with it. I will go into more detail on running it. With its auto and manual settings. After I practice with it for a bit.

Just the sound of the arc is amazing. I’ve never heard better from even the big boy blue and red machines.

Just to note, the power cord is twist lock so that funny shaped prong locks the cord in the machine when you plug it in then twist it clockwise. When you shop for a cord you'll want the L on the nema rating to denote it's twist lock.

Man i wanted to love mine, until the brass threads under the diffuser snapped off inside the neck. It was less than an hour out of the box but whoever assembled it must have used a 36" pipe wrench to put it on.

Do you think it was a cast iron or aluminum pipe wrench? Did you find the problem before the warranty expired?

@@sdavidb5620 I didn't find the problem before the warranty expired, and the local store only wanted to sell me an entire new whip for $90. But I looked online and found compatible necks for $12 each. Ordered 3 in case it happens again.

Not having the welder in front of me. Trouble shooting is not really easy. Fist I would go through and be sure all electrical connections are tight. Then call the number on the back of your manual. If it is a defective machine you want to talk to them. The warranty is only 90 days. They can also help troubleshoot.

If you put the thickness knob at 3/8 for 3/8" metal or 10, and then look at the setting info on the lid, you will find that the recommenced setting for 0.45 flux core wire is J/8.5. I brought this discrepancy to the attention of Harbor Freight Technical Support but they had to escalate it to a corporate engineer, I understand. Also, another example of a discrepancy, for instance, is the recommended setting for 0.035 solid wire and C100. On the lid for 240 volts for 1/8" it says D4 but if you set the left knob at 1/8" on the front panel to 1/8" the corresponding point is midway between 6 and 7. Are the synergic settings and the manual settings supposed to be so much different? I understand you are supposed to refer to the chart on the lid for the manual settings and for the synergic settings, you go by the orange highlighted thicknesses that are around the thickness knob. Can anyone explain the discrepancies I have found? Thanks.

Thank you for sharing. So far I have just used 0.30. Worked through a small spool of wire tinkering with the auto and manual settings. Put on a big spool and did some small projects. Did not really pay attention to settings. Just adjusted until I found the sweet spot I wanted.

Just bought this and the wire won't draw out when I pull the trigger. Why is that? I have the cord for it plugged in all the way

Well, that could be a number of things. Did the wire feed into the gun ok. When you set it up using the internal feed switch? What style wire are you using? The flux core will need the segmented feed rollers. Also, check the tension on your feed rollers.

One of the reasons can be the butterfly nut too tight

Make sure you’re using the right size tip for the right diameter of wire. Also make sure the chord for your MIG gun isn’t knotted up, straighten it out when pushing wire through it. And also make sure you got the right size rollers in your machine!

I am currently running mine. On a 20 amp. This is the circuit that was wired in for my air compressor. So far all is well. Though after consulting my electrician. This welder should have a 30amp.
