This video fixed my problem. I cant thank you enough. My mechanic said it's a faulty injector that I bought, so i showed him this video and sorted it. My mechanic never knew about this method. Seat altea 2013 1.6 tdi cr

Thanks for the video and for helping the community... I have 1.6 tdi dsg with 9922 soft up. B injectors, 130k km. I did this adaptation and the clicking sound that came from the injectors is much quieter now. I did not have any symptoms apart from that sound. The adaptation ran for about 5ish minutes, up until 3200rpm couple of times. I don't feel any change in performance.

Had injector 4 die today whilst doing a test drive after replacing a broken EGR. 2012 Octavia same engine. Thanks for the video - looks like VCDS is paying for itself :)

Well the EGR is the weak link in the 1.6 tbf. Generally the Siemens/ Continental injection system is reliable. I see lots of issues with not renewing clamp bolts etc. Great that you sorted a involved Job like this VCDS is a great tool.

Positive correction means underfueling, sir, not overfueling. The ecu tries to compensate, and that's why it shows a positive value..

Mine wouldn’t work initially. Had the engine up to temp and followed the exact instructions in the video but it would just sit at 800rpm. I had to get the ECU software updated mine was too low. Local tuner updated it for me now it works no issues.

Yes it is a requirement that engine is above min 70 degrees.

For anyone having trouble getting with the "Adapting injector minimum deviation quantity" sitting at 3,000 rpm indefinitely. What I found, is that the engine coolant needs to be > 80°C. Spent hours trying to get it to work, only thing that did the trick for me was letting the engine idle until it got up to temperature!

Yes the coolent must be above 80°c this is true for all adaptions.

Coding worked like a charm. Actually one of the original injectors was a way out from the others so the min deviation sequence did the trick. Thanks again! 💪🏻

Hi can I ask I have a problem with pre injection 1 activation duration is showing 0 on my scann tool . It’s a cayc 1600cc Vw beetle 2014 plate . Main injection is 0.3735 1 injection is 0 2 injection is 0.276 3 injection is 0.284 Many thanks .

Hi, Injecto4 4 is showing high numbers compared to other 3. Its at 4.9mg/str MAX when cold. I noticed a horrible diesel knock only when I'm on a certain road first thing in the morning. It has a load of speed bumps with a gentle incline and when I gently accelerate after the 2nd or 3rd speed bump the knock starts and is continuous until I turn car off and restart and off I go again as gentle as possible. The problem goes away when warm and all injector reading are perfect and all similar. It goes up that same road with speedbump with no probs. Is there a chance the copper seal id defective and just expands when warn to make the desired seal? Or is it injector related AND will the adaptive routine work sort out the issue? I've had injector problems before ( post 2 yrs ago ) and learned a lot form this video and others Any thoughts and help would be appreciated. Thanks

Golf 1.6 tdi cayc 2011 my mechanic only replaced the piezo of cylinder 1 with another used one because it was burnt without replacing the injector. Does it still need to be recoded? How do I know what value to enter? furthermore I have -2mg/stroke on cylinder 1 at idle, while the "cylinder 1 main injection voltage charge" value is 690 uAs, about 40 points less than the other 3 cylinders. After 200km I had the same P0201 problem again but this time by resetting the errors, cylinder 1 also started again. I can hear a lot of noise between 1000 and 2000 rpm while I accelerate, both hot and cold.. before the piezo broke, the engine was perfect with no noises.. this procedure could solve my problem or should i replace the injector with new one? Thank you so much for any suggestions

I replaced injectors washers and now the deviation is random from a day to another. Isn't this operation also performed when the injector washers are replaced?

Hi mate. It asked me to press the brake with clutch and then accelerator but the engine stays idle for 1 hour and does not adjust the injectors. The engine is a 1.6 CAYC 2010

I have this deviation on #1 (-1.9049) and #4 (1.2424). I suppose #4 is compensating #1. #1 being closer to the dpf, it reaches higher temps. #2 (-0.3708) and #3 (0.5587) are ok, i think. Do you think an adaptation could smooth things or should i be prepared to change #1?

Hi Emil, its important to realise that this inbuilt procedure is for the replacement of an injector. There are many reasons why compensation values vary, nozzle wear, drivetrain oscillations from worn flywheel etc. The Ecu adjusts this value continuously to smooth out idle. If your engine is performing ok I would leave it alone unless replacing a failed injector.

Warning to anyone attempting to do this with a third party tool. I was trying to use an Xtool D9S Pro to perform the adaptation. It didn't run the correct program and got into the infinite loop problem. You will know you are in the correct program because the instructions will tell you to press the clutch and brake pedal, then release, then accelerator and release. The incorrect program will tell you to press and hold the brake pedal and accelerator together. Furthermore, the incorrect program WILL delete all existing adaptation points and the engine will run very rough after you finally give up. In my case it was running rough, misfiring, vibrating excessively, deviations were +2 to +5 and there was a lot of smoke and injector knock. When I switched to using VCDS and following instructions properly, the correct program ran successfully, but did not fully fix the rough running. I ended up running the program multiple times and after the second run, the engine was purring again quite nicely but the deviations were still a bit high. By my third time running the adaptation program, the deviations had gone down to well below 1 and my issues were resolved. And one final point, be sure to run a DPF regen BEFORE doing the adaptation. It appears an excessive DPF differential pressure has a detrimental affect on injector adaptations, so by doing a DPF regen, you give the vehicle the best chance to properly adapt the injectors. Just make sure to shut down the engine after the regen, wait for the ECU to shut down, and then starting from fresh proceed to running the adaptation.

Hello. First of all thanks for the video explanation it's very usefull. But I have a problem with my car : golf 6 1.6 tdi cayc - 252.000 km After the adaptation procedure I still have a rough idle. Let me explain my situation. I've just changed the number 3 injector ( electricaly fail - low résistance ) with a brand new Continental one. I have cleared the p0203 error code then I warmup the engine till correct temp ( no error code ). Then I've made the procedure exactly as described in the video. It last for about 15-20min counting for about 28 throttle blips each cycle. Once the adaptation procedure completed in the vcds the idle remain rough. For the measured value of deviation Inj 1 : 0.6 - inj 2 : 0.3 - inj 3 : +2.0 - inj 4 : -1.9 So values remained the same as before adaptation. The car doen't have any other issue. It was running fine before the injector error code Concerning the injector 4. I had to remove the piezo head in order to extract the injector with a pneumatic injector puller because it was stuck. I've cleaned the nozzle of the injector in an ultrasonic bath. I've torqued the nut at 25Nm. I've cleaned injector seats with the correct reamer, put new copper washer and new clamp bolt torqued at 8Nm + 180°. I measured a resistance of 199 kohms Other info : Adaptation ide06141 made with Vcds clone 19.6.1 Ecu software 9983 So what I'm missing ? Do I need a Genuine vcds for that ? Maybe other people have or had a similar issue. Thanks in advance for your help.

How to be sure if a mechanic did code the injector? Maybe it is worth to re-code them again? Would it work to change few symbols in the code?

Hi, just tried to do this on my VW Golf Mk6 1.6 tdi cayc 2009 Simos PCR 2.1 ECU software 8831. My VCDS version is 19.6.1 it failed to do this adaptation even though security access was accepted. Is this because my ECU software is to low at 8831 which is 2010 date? I have read others saying ECU software needs to be 9971 pre EA 189 ref diesel gate scandal for this to work. Do you have any information or personal experience of why this adaptiom might fail? Any help would be most appreciated.

Have the same issue, P0202 fault which "is" injector cylinder 2, the faulty one is second from the left looking in from the radiator. My VCDS data blocks all show cylinder 4 faulty (which I gather is the firing order so no 2 geographically). Did you have to remove number 1 and 2 injector to replace as the bar will not come out unless you do? (they say remove injector 1and 4 in the manual but think its firing order again). I would be careful with the VCDS use of cylinder numbers, if you are replacing an injector I would check the existing code correlates to the injector you are replacing so when you recode you know it corresponds.

Hi phil, generally cylinder 1 is @ crank pulley end. (French cars Renault for example are the inverse of this). The injector clamp for 1 & 2 will need to be removed and u can remove injector 1. (Run the engine till hot before you start). Replace injector along with o-ring, copper seal and new injector clamp bolt. Ensure you torque correctly. Reprogram injector compensation code and run the balancing routine.

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 I have fitted replacement injector and the car runs...sort of. get P0101 fault after 5 mins but heyho. I ran adaptation for 25 mins and just says running. Is the glow plug lamp supposed to flash at the point when you get to 2000rpm? mine actually gets to 2500 then stops and returns to idle automatically.

@@philcross6037 Hi Phil, the adaptation has not ran correctly. Read my previous replies to other posters, this procedure is essentially not coded intuitively by vag com. Security access must be obtained as outlined and is the reason i made this particular video.

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 followed this three times: Start by bringing engine to operating temp and ensuring and ensuring no active codes present. Now EXIT from VCDS switch of engine and take out key WAIT until all throttle body etc PWM hum stops AT LEAST 20 SECONDS. Start engine and idle, establish communication with ECU go straight to security access and apply offered code DO IT STRAIGHT to Basic settings and select IDE06141 select run - BRAKES & CLUTCH - release - Floor throttle - release as instructed. You know its wrong if it revs to approx 2800 rpm and stays there. Correct operation is revs to 2000rpm then 10 runs through the rev range 3 to 4 times takes 5 - 8 mins. It WILL NOT WORK if you navigate to security access after running engine for awhile and checking fault codes ete - security access MUST be established by full power down and initial communication.

I replaced my Skoda Yeti 4th fuel injector and while coding , when press the do it button , a dialogue box appears saying : This appears to be an uninitialised control module; Valid WSC/importer/equipment data may be required. Click Yes for vcds to use default values of 12345/123/12345 Click No for vcds to use values currently in the module Click cancel to go back and manually edit the values I tried both the yes and no options nothing works , engine won't start (was working perfectly before it was just a bad 4th injector but was working) . I primed fuel as well. The car engine is not starting at all now seems like the coding is messed up. Any help would be appreciated. (VCDS is genuine - software , and cable both )

Hi I have a audi a4 b7 2.0 tdi 2006 my car is driving fine... when engine gets to operating temperature the car vibrates and shakes at idle no smoke or anything idle is not hunting .. had vcds on to check everything seems good only got p0674 code for glow plug . Checked injectors all in spec cylinder 1. -0.16 mg . Cylinder 2. - 0.02 mg . Cylinder 3 . 0.28 mg . Cylinder 4 . -0.07 mg .. but injection quantity is bouncing around 1.5 mg to 2.5 mg/str and it says it supposed to be around 3.0 to 9.0 mg/str is there any way you can adjust that thanks ..

Just fitted a new injector to a skoda 1.6 tdi 2016 Did a leak off yesterday and showed it didn't leak off at all or barely. Changed it coded it in with modus snap on. Its not happy it's running on 3. No engine codes. I checked to see all codes are there. They are. I'm thinking use VCDS but is there something else I should do I will be sure to try this Procdure!

I'm assuming the 2016 1.6tdi is running the Delphi injection system? VCDS is what I would use. The delphi setup requires a conversion map I think.

Great video! My golf mk6 1.6 tdi 2010 CAYC engine got injector 2 replaced in a VW shop. Do they perform the injectors adaptation there? Or should I go ahead and do it? My deviation values could be closer but I think they are in range.. I'm asking this because my engine seams to run rough when compared to other similar engines. Thanks!

Odis will prompt them to do it, so they will have done it I'd imagine. Remember in any case over time the ECU is adjusting this value in any case

I'm trying to adapt used injectors on a 2.0 cr tdi amarok 90kw but vcds only changed the inj 1 code, others keep saying out of range, am I missing something?

Hey! with used injectors you have no way of knowing how worn they are, if they have excessive leak-off the deviations will be high.

Hello buddy. I have got 4 new injectors replaced but the mechanic forgot to coding it. The car been shaking and revs it’s self when it’s parked. I got someone coming tomorrow to code them in. He’s got vcds program but he’s never have done it an Audi before. Any advice or just to follow when you done in the video? Appreciate your time to read this for me

Hi there, it depends on the year of your SEAT, this procedure is applicable to the CAY series of engines from 2009-2012 with Siemens/Continental engine management after this VAG switched to Bosch and Delphi.

I’ve tried the minimum injector deviation, when I had the original injectors, the vehicle performed the cycle in 5 mins. I changed the injector and now this is taking over 50 mins and isn’t finishing the process. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi lad, I have a 141 Passat 1.6tdi when I start it cold there is a misfire and when driving along in 4th gear it starts chugging along the road 212,000km on it, would it be injector or something else ? (There’s no codes on the dash)

You'll need to read engine ecu in any case. If injector failed electrically it will shoot a code instantly, this doesn't seem to be the case for you. Does it drive OK at times? When warmed up does it idle OK? How is the flywheel? Clutch pulsing under foot? Lots to find out before I'd condem an Injector.

It idles fine when warm,it drives grand apart from the chugging in 4th,5th and 6th gear. Should I take it to a garage to see if it brings up anything on the computer?, Also sometimes there’s a strong smell of diesel at times.

After replacing an Injector firstly programme the injector compensation code. After this has been successful perform the quantity adaption. Click yes to valid importor code it can't be set to 0.

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 got it to take the new code and did the minimum deviation program. Engine runs at boost but shackes and knocks badly under load before boost comes in. When I took the top of one injector and put it on the old one I had it must have been totally wrong?

@@kjelljohannessen8827 trying to repair these injectors yourself without specialist equipment is not advised, I'm pretty sure continental / VDO use shims to calibrate the piezo stack. You need a reconditioned or new injector. Be careful because a badly over fuelled cylinder will put a hole in a piston.

yes the CAYB & CAYD dont have them and they were discontinued in the CAYC

Hi can you please help me I change the speed limiters it was at 190 km I was just messing around. I change it to two hundred km so for some reason when I press do it it kept going back to 50km now I have smoke bellowing out of tail pipe and it’s running like a pig and there’s was smoke coming out from under the bonnet I was afraid to look. Can you please help me my head is all messed up i know I did something really bad to the engine have you any ideas please help

Hi. I’ve done everything right with the minimum quantity and so one. The car was running for a few miles really smooth comparing to before! But now I’ve got EGR failure. I think it might be connected with the new values from the injectors. I am cleaning the the errors all the time but the light comes up straight away! Any advice on the EGR! Can I do a”reset” to the EGR ? Thank you

Hi, what is the code concerning the EGR? If it a position sensor short to high or ground the EGR is dead. There is a very Common problem with the non contact position sensor in the EGR motor failing.

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 I have the latest version of Vcds, I can’t really find that option! 😅 One thing I realize is when I am doing dpf regeneration the error don’t come up and the car is driving fine! I presume the best way for me it’s to delete the dpf and egr! Since I can’t fix this problem. Thank you for your help and keep helping the community! Appreciated

I have a problem with my ibiza 1.6tdi 105hp, when i start the engine in the morning there is a loud sound, clicking, engine vibrating and a white smoke coming out. And after it is warm it sounds good. Is there any solution? Or I should change the injectors? Thanks!

Hi @NotBAD The symptoms you describe could point to many things but a more detailed assessment is required. Do you have any Engine fault codes active? If the engine is performing normally when warm I certainly would not replace Injectors unless they are obviously defective.

I havo no engine faults and this happens only once a day in the morning when the engine is cold.. when it's warm it runs like a clock, a friend told me to put some oil+gasoline in the tank, it may help the injectors clean... @NotBAD Please do NOT put petrol/gasoline into a diesel engine! your common rail pump relies on Diesel fuel for lubrication and the solvent action of gasoline will dramatically reduce the lubricity of the fuel causing complete injection system failure.

Tried it on my Audi A3 1.6 (2012) and it worked, it had clinking noise before but now it is really smooth. Initially I thought there is a bad injector but for now it works well. All-though the torque is not here anymore so I guess the algorithm made the injectors closer to the lower values so that it throws less gasoline which made the car weaker now.

Hi there I have rought idle at cold dtart with my 2011 VW Jetta 1.6 tdi, engine code CAYC. Also engine has click sound under acceleration. I send all injectors 2 times for repair and cleaning and the injector tester show normal values for them. I try to do adaptation. Process starts , revs go up and down but it never ends. 30 minutes and still continue. What can I do ?

Hi Richard, do you mean CAYC engine? Yes all modern common rail diesel injectors generally need to have their offset codes assigned in the factory programmed.

I've followed this to the letter. I have cayc engine also. All that happens is the glow plug light flashes forever. No throttle blips or nothing. Just idles. Vcds says running

Its in an Infinite loop when that happens - Usually caused by not entering security access only after an ECU power cycle as outlined. But if you have done that correct I am unsure? Reports that non genuine VCDS interfaces can be troublesome also.

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 yes I definitely did it correct. I also have genuine cable and software. Im stumped. After I tried this several times I tried to drive the car and its was terrible, clouds of smoke, injector 2 and 4 was pegged at 5mg/stroke vs 1 and 3 - 5mg/stroke to compensate. I left it for 2 hrs and restarted back to normal issue with it being a bit lumpy and injector 4 is 1. 5 to 2mg/stroke and 1 2 3 are trying to compensate, not so much 2. So I don't know what to do now. I have no codes.

@@LAW-fv6ys Hi @LAW what year is this 1.6 CAYC also why did you initally decide to run the routine (lumpy idle?) if you have clouds of smoke it is not because of the routine, it only compensates to achieve balanced smooth idle, smoke is due to damaged injector, turbo damage etc.

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 2010. I didn't have clouds of smoke until after failed adaptions attempts. The original fault was just rough idle when cold. I think the real issue is leaking copper washer seal on injector 2 and 4. Hence worse when cold and also when you drive it it will knock more and feel under powered.

@@LAW-fv6ys I see, that''s strange as the compensation amount is small can create knock but should not be able to over fuel enough to create smoke especially on a car with a DPF. If injector copper seals are bad there is a vent hole for each cylinder close to the exhaust manifold bolt, there should be oil escaping there. I dont know why the routine wont work for you, I presume the ECU was never mapped? Have done this many times on 1.6 continental/siemens ECU's only did the video to highlight the problem you are having, which is caused by not power cycling the ECU before entering security access.

Well just had the RAC out to my 2009 VW Golf Mk 6 1.6 tdi cayc, flashing glow plug on dash running on 3 cylinders whilst far from home on holiday. RAC took approx 25 min to change number 1 injector after P0201 code found open circuit. The cast was £600.00 to change this injector Continental brand P/N= A2C9626040080 or 03L130277S. So l guess l now need to see how all 4 injector minimum quantity's are balanced after watching this very informative video. The brand new Continental injectors can be bought for approx £330.00, how the hell do RAC which is suppose to fit items for tree justify the £600.00 charge? Highway robbery in my opinion total scam

If number 1 has failed at 56,201 miles are the other three likely to fail soon or have l just been unlucky to have number 1 fail at such a low mileage. There is a follow up video after this one on this channel about the infinite loop. It's an issue with vcds, you should watch it. Basically when engine is started and vcds working, you should navigate in vcds, read some random values and THEN try the adaptation after entering the security code.

Hi, I tried this and it just stays running and does not complete even after well over an hour. Is there any reason why it wont complete? I did select the inj deviation minimum quantity while the car was off at first thinking it would do anything but am now left with ending knocking under any bit of load. Original issue was intermittent rough idle on cold start up and the odd time engone knoecking on take off even after 15 min of driving. Figured Id try this but am worse off now....any help please as I need car in two days time for work. Mk 6 Golf TDI 2012 Thanks.

Hi there, did you check the injection quantity offsets first? If one injector deviates significantly it would be worth doing a leak off test. Also is your DMF ok?

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 No I dont think I checked injection quantity offsets. I remeber looking at mg/stroke ( Not sure name of this on VCDS.) and Inj 1 was running higher than the others. DMF is fine, the odd time in the cold on cold at startup it can cause bit of shudder on first 5 - 10 miles but perfect then after. Can you explain leak off test? How to do it?

Hi again, I am still trying to find out why the Injector deviation quantity procedure does not complete on my car 1.6 tdi CAYC? I seen across other boards similar issues with it not completing that no one can answer it, just dead end threads all over and its very important to find out why as it left my car knocking terribly when i tried this inj deviation quantity procedure on VCDS. Please can anyone for the love of god give a proper accurate answer. Is there a way to undo what I did, resetting inj dev quantity offsets in VCDS. @@johnogorman2920 Hi John, Yes there is a way to undo this, quite simply the procedure to run this algorithm is convoluted because quite frankly VCDS are not VW AG - they are reverse engineering the software (which is excellent) and don't have access to the nuances. In any case this particular sub-routine in the 1.6tdi Siemens / Conti engine management does require security access and the problem lies in how this access is established. Start by bringing engine to operating temp and ensuring and ensuring no active codes present. Now EXIT from VCDS switch of engine and take out key WAIT until all throttle body etc PWM hum stops AT LEAST 20 SECONDS. Start engine and idle, establish communication with ECU go straight to security access and apply offered code DO IT STRAIGHT to Basic settings and select IDE06141 select run - BRAKES & CLUTCH - release - Floor throttle - release as instructed. You know its wrong if it revs to approx 2800 rpm and stays there. Correct operation is revs to 2000rpm then 10 runs through the rev range 3 to 4 times takes 5 - 8 mins. It WILL NOT WORK if you navigate to security access after running engine for awhile and checking fault codes ete - security access MUST be established by full power down and initial comunication. I did this twice on a 2010 golf & 2014 Caddy this week. Hope this sorts you out. I deliberately did it wrong the first time and is did leave a noticeable knock until I ran it again correctly ! let me know how you get on.

@@papakolos the custom map should have no effect on the calibration process, the tuner will have updated various parameter quantities but not algorithmic functionality of basic setting procedures (calibration functionality). In any case the software will overtime automatically compensate when smooth running compensation is implemented during idle mode. The critical parameter is that the injector has been coded so the software knows its been replaced.

Some early CAY engines don't seem to have it in the software rev. Have definitely seen a few skodas that don't have the option. Most likely the ECU will adapt over time in any case.

@alteaxl4621 yes you can but why? This procedure is for adjustment of the pilot injection parameters and cylinder balance, it may change the characteristics of idle etc but will not fix a mechanical issue. Do you have a problem with your engine?

Thank you very much for your reply. Kinda I do, on some occasions I do get inconsistent idle like fluctuations from 780 rpm as normal, to 750 rpm - 810 rpm.. when I turn the AC on or some bigger electric consumer this problem disappears. Kinda awkward. Thanks again mate!

@Alex Alex the procedure with vcds is very specific to the continental eng management system, remember vcds is a odis emulator not perfect. Power down fully and enter exactly as i did in part 2 video

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 i have 1.6 tdi golf 6 cayc. On cold start in the morning i have rough idle sometimes but after few minutes it gets normal. When engine is hot, at 90 C, i have that knocking sound arround 1500 and 2000rpm when accelerating. It does not effect my ride, but it is very annoying. Tomorrow i will have exact values of injectorts to see if there is some large deviations. Im wondering do i need to change injectors (one or more) or it can be repaired with adoption

@@pochinki420 Hey, well being honest adaption does not fix knocking really - check your values regarding compensation values, how many Km's on the engine and flywheel ? knocking under acceleration is most likely over fueling from a worn nozzle. I cant stress how much people need to consider the complete drive train, including flywheel and engine mountings. I assume no codes are present atm.

I replaced an injector, put in the code supplied and took car out for road test. Engine had vibration between 1k - 2k rpm. Checked the deviation quantities and the the injector I replaced had a value of +2 but the others had -0.6... Ran the deviation adaption, took around 5 minutes to complete. Checked values again and all within tolerance of each other. Roadtested again, no hesitating just smooth as butter!

Well spotted! I actually thought all siemens/CONTINENTAL injectors were 6 digit. Perhaps the ECU is putting in the 0 to fill the null placeholder. Generally the 2.0tdi with bosch use a 7 digit. In any case just put in your 6 digit code.

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 Hi, cheers for your reply. It's a 2009 Golf 1.6tdi CAYC engine. 2 Injectors replaced with recon units, coded in with VCDS and engine now runs lumpy at idle.

@MotoHighlands Is your VCDS the latest Revision I'm currently using V21.9 Also what is the Software code when you log into engine screen i.e. 1.6 R4CR Hxx xxxx Its possible that this was not available on early software versions - There may be an option to "Reset learned values of quantity adaption" this will reset the offsets for smooth running idle control.

Hello bro thanks for the video .. I have vw vento 2012 1.6 TDI engine have injector failure and replaced 3 injectors with 2 new and 1 used injectors one by one in 6 months after replacing 3rd injector (used injector) my engine performance has dropped and my mileage and pickup is very low, actually after replacing 3rd used injector with in a day again that 3rd injector got failed so have went to the service station and asked for 3rd one the service person did something in laptop for half an hour tha faulty injector gets adopted to it and fill date no failure in injectors but after that am only no pick and no milage my engine noice has changes pls help me out with this bro i want my previous performance back.. (also of I tell this story to any of my seicive person they all are checking in software and telling there is no fault code showing so ur injectors are working fine no need to clean or change the injector yet seams) thanks in advance 🙏🙏🙏

Hi Saravana, did your injectors fail electrically, did the piezo pack fail. Do you know what fault codes were present? How many KM's are on the engine? It is important to know if the injectors failed due to wear or electrical failure.

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 Hi Thank q so much for u reply, Yes my injectors failed electrically (solenoid), have not notice what fault code were reflected, now my ODO is 114000km and have faced injector failure at around 80000kms,

Very low mileage for failure! you should check the injector offsets first - the new injectors may be different from the used one. Very strange that 3 injectors failed piezo stack so quickly. The used injector may have a lot of milage on it - when coded the ECU thinks its new, did you run IDE06141 to balance?

I have fitted 4 brand new injectors to my audi a3 cffb 2.0 tdi and coded the injectors in. Should I do a minimum quantity adaptation too?

This is a bosch ECU it has its own fuel adaptation routines, the video is for the CAY 1.6 Siemens/CONTINENTAL ECU. Short answer is yes if the routine is available in VCDS

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 yes I entered the codes from top of the injectors which I bought from GSF. Engines done 186k and fitted them upon full rebuild but only done 1 mile since as I'm getting p256300 and P00AF00. I had zero turbo problems before engine was rebuilt.

@@Liveforeever why was it rebuilt? P2563 could be the diaphragm in the turbo actuator damaged or as you say poorly built turbo, strange. Focus on fixing these before worring about injectors.

Shouldn't be any black smoke from any car with a DPF really, if its blue smoke could be oil /turbo issue.

@@shanebaggley4167 Is the engine running rough? Diesel knock etc, what was the reason for running the injector adaptation? Disconnecting an Injector while running is not recommended. Does the ecu have any codes etc?

@@enginemanagementadventures7305 this was after changing a faulty Injector for second hand before the quantity adaption. Seemed to be smoke coming from behind the engine when running rough.

@@shanebaggley4167 second hand injectors can have very high leak off rates from wear, so lots of smoke could be due to overfueling, adaption will not cure wear.

Update to 22.3.1 but in any case if your on a CAYC engine it should be there ive deffo done lots of 2011's

Thanks for fast reply it’s a clone but think I will have to buy genuine one fitted refurbished set to are ok but 2 of them are in plus 2 lumpy on tick over and diesel knock to about 1500 rpm under load then fine

@@andystewart7086 you fitted referbished injectors? If done by a diesel specialist they should be perfect, make sure you code the compensation codes first. Probably need the genuine interface for that I'd imagine.

Bought them off eBay sending them back as in 2 plus making my car white smoke compression test all cylinders 25 bar bought vagcom should be here by Wednesday cheers

i didnt replace any injector but i do have a rough idle when hot. do you think it would hurt to try this?

Check the injector compensation values for large deviations first. Also be aware that when idling a cylinder balancing algorithm runs to smoothen out idle, a worn flywheel will cause this to constantly try to balance the torsional oscillations from the flywhee so check also.

I did the adaptation and for now, after a week, the car is smooth as silk at idle at any temperature. I'm not embarrassed anymore at traffic lights. Ahah. Thanks.

Hi there has anyone else had a code on injector 4 in the stored value box as 293.1657g, the other injector are normal codes from the top of the injector apart from this one. I too am having issues running the cycle but I’m thinking it’s something to do with this. Thanks I’m advance Jake

Thanks for the reply, yes I recoded the injector on a different laptop/system. I then had a look on this software but the code box for injector 4 would not let me type in it so I couldn’t change the code on this software. I had actually previously had the car remapped, so I’ve got someone coming to take the map off today and hoping that this will reset the injectors and fix the lumpy running.

Is it possible to perform this procedure on a tuned 1.6 CAYC with egr off? I tried to do it but got the "stopped for safety reasons - malfunction"

hi, thanks for your videos. I have a 1.6tdi cayc, and there is a chaotic knocking on a cold engine like in the video, after warming up it is gone. @@enginemanagementadventures7305 no, nothing like that. acceleration is good, consumption is also excellent, there is no smoke, there is no knocking during acceleration either. only this chaotic metal knocking on a cold engine. I found a video with a freewheel of the generator, it sounds very similar, I was sure that I had the same problem, but the replacement did not give anything, now I think that it is probably the knocking from one of the injectors..

@@viktortsarenko5730 An Injector worn will not get better when the engine is warmed up, I suspect this is not diesel knock but a worn flywheel (DMF).

@@viktortsarenko5730 Yes you are spot on most have single mass but not all. You need to figure out if the sound is coming from the bellhousing / transmission area of indeed if it is overfueling on a cold engine. If you have VCDS you could check the injector compensation values to see if one is wildly different, however the best way would be a lee
