Thanks for the video! It was a big help. Probably saved me about $300 bucks. The follower was ready to be replaced after about 40,000 miles. Originally it failed at about 81,000 miles with catastrophic damage, but was covered under warranty. This time I caught it at the right time. Most of the black coating was worn off except around the edges, but no apparent damage. Getting access to the Banjo bolt fuel line was the biggest challenge and took about a half hour to get off, but reinstalled in minutes. My 2006 GTI is stock and I don't drive it hard. As it happened, I did not put on the stud kit due to clearance issues. I couldn't get the fuel pump back on without pushing hoses and lines, and didn't feel comfortable forcing anything. In retrospect I could have removed the brass fuel fitting to the pump to get the clearance and then reinstalled it after mounting the pump. I was pressed for time then. Maybe next time, if I still have the car. All in all a great learning experience though. Kris

I have a 2007 A4 2.0t. I found that using a 1/4" ratchet to a 12" extension with a u-joint to the 8mm triple square was the easiest. I couldn't get my stubby 1/4" ratchet with my hand in there like the video. Also doing it this way I didn't need to remove the PCV tube. Once it was loose I used a magnet tool to keep it from falling into the engine bay.

My mechanic told me this noise is normal for direct injection engines such as my audi fsi. The car does not shake on idle nor while driving high speeds. I do notice that the HPFP does make noise especially when the engine is cold. But I also inspected the pump, and cam follower as well as the cam shaft the look like new. So I just can't figure why this light keeps coming back on. I am also changing my N80 valve because I do notice ticking noise coming from he old one. Any suggestions>

My cam follower was worn though. Full repair was completed by the dealer. Is it still recommended to check the cam follower at regular intervals or are the revised parts installed by the dealer no longer subject to failure?

@Deutsche Auto Parts, I recently had my fuel pump replaced. and i own this exact car, but they replaced it with a "diesel" high pressure fuel pump. I'm not mechanically inclined....so, ill have to look at the receipt to make sure. But, does this affect the overall performance of my '08 passat 2.0t fsi?
@Deutscheautoparts9 жыл бұрын
miguel sanchez Im sorry but installing a diesel pump is impossible so there must have been some miscommunication.
@miguelconde89 жыл бұрын
Deutsche Auto Parts thanks, well it must have been a TYPO. anyways it ended up being a $500 part. i payed 100 b/c i have a 4year warranty. it sounded a bit sketchy, I'm glad you guys clarified that.
@Planehazza8 жыл бұрын
Awesome thanks. Is this the 'old' TFSI, or is it the TSI that Audi confusingly call the TFSI? Thanks for explaining how to bleed off the fuel pressure - I saw in your intake manifold video that that would need to be done but it wasn't explained how. This makes it look so easy! :)
@Deutscheautoparts8 жыл бұрын
+Harry Marshall Depends on the vehicle. Audi uses TFSI most so many models

FYI... If you have the later revision with the hose, instead of the banjo bolt, you don't need to remove the hose in order to replace the cam follower! I wish I had known that before spending my weekend screwing with that god awful spring clip!

What do you think about the 3.2 v6 a4..? I'm kindve worried now because i bought the car at 90k and I'm at 104k and I do the mantience when it's required at our shop and I believe the high pressure fuel pump has never been touched.. I've heard if they fail, they can damage the cam shaft and possibly the engine. have you ever changed one on the v6 or heard them failing often?
@Deutscheautoparts8 жыл бұрын
+Ejmin Khosrovian This is the pump youre talking about but as far as we know they dont have the same issues with cam follower wear like the 2.0t FSI did. It is still possible for the pump itself to go bad. deutscheautoparts.com/make-model-year/audi/a4/b7-2005-2008/engine/v-6-3-2-liter-audi/repair/fuel/06e-127-025-ab.html

+Deutsche Auto Parts okay. So, I took it all apart and the cam follower is wore completely through. It's was practically stuck on the fuel pump spring. The end of the plunger that is supposed to be connect to the spring was completely broke. My next question is how to tell how much is to much wear on the camshaft lobe. It doesn't look to bad but there is some scoring. I was sure how to turn the shaft with out cranking it, so I took a play off the right side to get a side view of the entire shaft. I can tell if it needs replacing.
@Deutscheautoparts8 жыл бұрын
HuBrIsRaDiO If the damage was that bad you should replace all the components. You can try to put a new pump and follower and see how it goes but this is not advisable. The bad cam could cause further damage. .

Hey guys... just noticed your cam follower was completely worn and the center was missing in this video. Did you guys do anything to remove the metal that is now floating around in the engine or cam area? I need to know because I just checked my CF and it looks just like yours.
@Deutscheautoparts8 жыл бұрын
That was just one we had as an example. If yours looked like that you would need a cam and fuel pump likely. In regards to getting metal out you can always add a magnetic drain plug. deutscheautoparts.com/06f-198-908.html

Got a question or two I'm hoping someone who's done this can answer. When I was trying to remove the HPFP to do this, I was able to get just about everything disconnected and bleed the schrader valve but I couldn't get the 3 bolts holding it to unscrew, I tried a regular screw driver, electronic screw driver, and a regular drill with no budge, not sure if whoever worked on it last over tightened it or if I'm doing something wrong, but I'm not too sure how else to get them off. Also, is it necessary to remove the rubber line and hardline to do this? I heard it was possible to move the pump enough to replace the follower but I have some doubts on whether that's safe to do or not, I'd figure it wouldn't be a good idea. Anyone else who's done this deal with that or know what to do? I've got a spare set of bolts but I've read somewhere they might not fit with the HPFP so I'd rather use them as a last resort.
