That’s worth the grab for sure! I came across a totally sun baked Fasty like this out in the desert. It’s now in England being restored mechanically but with the patina preserved !

Great video. There are very few opportunities to go searching like that here in the UK. Normally, if you see an old car on someone's driveway they either think its worth millions or they don't want to sell it all because they're going to "do it up", but of course, they never do 😞

Way Cool Adventure. Just found pictures of my 72 fastback and 2 fastback wagons I had 30 years ago. That Bug looks like the perfect car to make a VW Bug Truck. I made one out of a 62 type 1 back in the 70’s. Thanks for another great video. BigW:-)

Hi funny story! Actually the Astro van V6 is basically a Chevy V8 with two cylinders chopped off. And the Astro van is on a frame like a truck it's not a unibody. It actually makes a really good tow vehicle and rescue vehicle because you can fit lots of gear. Yes if can't halt quite as much but when you're dealing with lightweight Volkswagen Beetles and buses it works great

I know how it feels to go out looking for vws and find a bunch of rusty ones. The last 2 I have found is a rust free 74 camper and a 60 ghia that I drive all the time. Keep it up you guys have some nice ones

It's funny you mention that. The guy that owns the shop in the first few scenes as a Model A guy. And he might be interested in it. The owner said it was actually a four-door sedan that was converted into a truck.

@@VWLifeVW That's funny it was a conversion. Model As were the Beetles of their day. Plentiful and hacked into all kinds of stuff. One of my favorite Model A recreations is the "Doodlebug" tractor. There were kits available and completely homemade versions to. Sounds familiar!

My gran had a silver type 3 and it would have been my first car but was damaged beyond repair, no one was hurt luckily. So my first car was then a 72 1300 beetle.

My 66 Fastback Has A/C the compressor looks identical to the one shown here, Mine I believe was dealer installed it does show as an added option on the og dealer invoice. I was once told most the early cars were dealer installed but could be wrong. I did seem like the newer Mexico built cars had AC options.

For years I wanted a Type 3 Notchback and finally found one only to have the jerk sell it out from under me before I could get back from the bank with the money. He knew I was coming for it so I don't know what the deal was. Now they are so rare in my area you hardly ever see one in any condition.

@@VWLifeVW yes but what about now, all the volkswagens, are not air cooled, like they used to, now they have radiators, which means, if the temperature, rises to the 100s, instant overheat, the other cars were aur cooled, they did not overheat unless there was a problem, with the oilcooler then they would.overheat, why did they stop making air cooled engines, they even made an air conditioning for sone of these cars, that could have been perfected also,👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻✌👍🏻✌✌✌✌✌👍🏻

Leave that '72 Fastback in the barn. They were junk when they were new. I had a 1970 Squareback I bought brand new. The only car I ever had that was worse was a 1979 Fiat Mirafiori 131 sedan.
