Great video. Do you have a video of how the bearings go back in the assembly?
@FixItScotty3 күн бұрын
Sorry I don't, but there are other videos that show that. Here's one example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3mmY4lqituKn68si=bcMoqQ0Win9zPC2j. Thanks for watching!

3 years, later, do you remember how well your tension washers fit ? Mine don't seem to sit down on the flange of the joint and it seems to me that they should. Those in combo iwth serrated should keep this together. Did you have any gaskets ? My new axle came with gaskets (2). I don't know if I have enough space to fit them in after washers are on. Agreed, aftermarket is low quality.

Dan, I really can't remember too well. I know I didn't install any gaskets or o-rings. Just the boot, tension washer, CV joint, and then spring clip. If it's done right, there should be just enough room to install the clip into the groove on the end of the shaft and there shouldn't be any play in the CV joint on the shaft. That's about all I can recall.

Thank you for the video. I noticed one of my outer boots is sporadically making a clicking sound - mostly when running in reverse. Turning wheel by hand - no clicks. Turning by motor - sporadically clicking. The boot has no damages. Going to take it apart tomorrow now that I see what it's like inside from your videos. If you happen to know what could cause this, I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks for watching. I am not sure what is causing your clicking sound. If it's not a loose axle bolt or something in the transmission, then it may be something wrong inside the CV joint.

@@FixItScottyI think I should replace all of mine...kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJCso6OuZ9R-gdU. Regrading the "washer" on some parts and holes of different shape, don't know if it make a difference, but on mine the ones with washer and weird shaped openings were on the passenger side. The other ones on the driver side. So not one of each on each of the sides. Not sure if it matters.

Always replace with new bolts they are torqued down. very important

I would agree to replace bolts that are bad. I don't know if I agree with buying all new parts. Aftermarket product quality can be so bad sometimes that original parts may still last longer.

? Why ? These are not newer cylinder head bolts where you stretch them. Torque on vanagon is 33 fot pounds and bus it is 25 foot pounds. Mine were on there, like 100 foot pounds by previous owner who was a moron. No washers, no tension washers either. but grease all around and click click click while turning left.
