Our road trip to Rømø in Denmark, via Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. Our first stop was Bruges and Alsemberg to visit our friend Patrick and his family.
Patrick kindly showed us how to cook 3 courses on a ridge monkey pan on any camper stove. Moules a la ridgemonkey in Belgian Beer.
Competition video coming next week!

I might have to try this one myself, loved the fact that a local does the cooking for you.

Little secret, I am not a big fan of shell fish so of course all my guests cook them haha. They were very nice though! The amaretto pears in chocolate sauce were incredible!

We are really keen to know what you would like to see more of and equally what you want to see less of. Do you want more of the travel and less detailed recipes or the more detailed recipes? Comments on what you would enjoy would be appreciated. Thanks for watching our little holidays. :)

Hi Stephen , the next part is in progress at the moment, we are also planning a little podcast style video chatting about our experiences. As a whole Denmark was probably the easiest of the countries to travel in. We never saw any roadworks or got stuck in traffic. Probably our biggest learning is rather bizarre but make sure you have lots of 50 Euro cent coins if driving through the EU. most of Europe seems to charge for the toilet. Denmark isn’t euros they also charge too for the toilet. Everything is contactless and card based we hardly used cash and even many petrol stations were unmanned and automatic. We withdrew what we needed from cashpoints for Danish krone. We only withdrew a small amount it was enough for bathroom breaks and the odd snack or souvenir. Wild camping I believe is illegal so be careful if you’re in a camper. Denmark has very good roads and a lot less traffic so progress is very good. We asked a Danish friend about tipping is apparently not required as wages are higher (the prices are a little more than the UK). Everywhere we webt the food was very good quality and this made the prices seem ok. If you like a drink it will be more expensive than you’re used to, some folks we met took some with them. It’s very flat so can get a little windy so there isn’t much natural scenery but they make up for this with nice architecture, culture, art and friendliness. That said Lakolk was beautiful. The people are extremely friendly and speak very good English we loved the people.

I should also add we never once paid for parking and at Lakolk you could drive onto the beach for free which was wonderful. Some people did camp although it wasn’t officially allowed.
