Remember don’t throw the stabilizer bar away ,use it to beef up your steering rod’s. cut it down to size and take a rod end off ,then slide the cut stabilizer bar in 🤙🏽old Baja secret ✌🏽

Genius! Yeah I actually bent my drivers side tie rod at the Big Sky 200 this summer, we did keep the sway bar, should come in handy. Thanks!

Well done congratulations! I have a Beetle 1302 and I want it to be high off the ground. Did you cut anything off the body? Yes? What size frame did you use? I tried: 195-60-15 '' What are your numbers written on that big tire? Did you change the size of the metal wheels of the original tires? wish you happy and safe driving

no body cutting at all with this method! the tire size we used was 235 75 R15, used this size with the stock steel wheels. thanks!

If you arent planning to race or do any kind of crazy abusive offroading then you dont need to reinforce the suspension… for this car we added a 4 point roll bar for safety and overall chassis rigidity. For shocks, we used stock length KYB shocks. if you arent going to lift the car more than 2 or 3 inches the stock shocks should be long enough. everything we did to the suspension on this car was completely free and just required about a weeks worth of work.

I gotta ask, did you get a before height and after? Do you know what you gained? Also, what is the tire size because it sits really nicely. Ive got a 74' id lile to build up. Thank you.

We never measured but if i were to guess, with the tires probably 5 or 6 inches... The suspension will settle after a few hundred miles so in the end we probably will have lifted it 3-4 inches. Hope this helps. I can't remember how much of a rotation we did but i mentioned it in the video.

oh yeah, both cars rub a ton 😂 honestly unless you want to widen the car significantly, its not something you can really get rid of. sorry!

can a beetle transmission handle this wheel size ? also steering system?

yes, in general, there really isnt any reason why a stock tranny can’t handle bigger tires… it will however mess up the speedometer a bit. The steering system is fine to remain stock if its not a race car but i would recommend upgrading tie rods if you plan to race.
