Hi guys. I have had this software update did fix it but i also know people i met that an oil change fixed it. Strange thing is i or my friend did not have an overfill issue. Interesting video.

I had this on my 17 sprinter mate. long story short..accidentally turned the engine off “mid regen” without knowing.. only realised when I came back to the van and it had a “hot” smell” this was start of the build so fully empty.. the floor where the handbrake area is felt warm so I looked under and saw this is the apx area the dpf is and realised what happened. About 5 miles driving after this I had that same alert on the dash. Genuinely think your mechanic is right and you’ve turned it off during a regen and some diesel has been dumped in. It’s stupid there’s no light or icon to say it’s doing a regen!🙁 I think if I ever do it again I’ll probably change the oil just to be sure 👍🏼 Fingers crossed that’s all it is bud Ant

How do you take a little bit of oil out? 😊Also, how often do you get an oil change done? VW told me their oil is long life so doesn't usually need changing.

Oil on a VW should be changed every 10000 miles or yearly. It’s imperative you do this to keep the engine in good condition.

They have a special tool that does remove oil. Yes, the oil they have is long life. Whatever the recommended for change intervals are is what to do, not what a Sunday mechanic thinks. Thank you for your comment! 🙌

Really confused by this - The engineer says that the line is just below the minimum while pointing to what I thought was the maximum line or have I got my dipstick upside down?

Doesn't say much for the reliability of the van. You had to drive all the way back from Scotland then wait 3 weeks for the garage to tell you they did not know what was causing the fault even after a "health check". Disappointing.

Tom can i ask how long you had to wait to get your van looked at by Oldham VW , and when did you contact them ? My engine light came on 5th April and called them to book it in and have been given 7th May No AVAIABLITY before that date so was shocked when watching your video and you getting your van looked at !!!

@@dubventures Yes we had our first service done by them last year. Van 2 years old last week only covered 4k. Check engine fault showing as adblue censor fault.
