Congratulations on your channel. I have seen all your videos! I have a golf 5 and today I changed the steering wheel to multifunction and the steering head to highline. Everything works, the coding was done but the only problem is that the steering wheel light doesn't turn off with anything and the steering wheel is heavy because the electric assistance doesn't work. you should probably try to return the module under the steering wheel and make basic settings. so you will find out if the rack is broken or not. maybe he can't connect the new module under the steering wheel with the old steering rack

In my case security access code was 31857, procedure worked fine at first try. 40168 was also accepted though, but turning wheel all the way left & right like 20 times didn’t do anything. At least I got big muscle now 😅

Hi SHtatkus, wow thank goodness I started reading comments, got my 2006 mk2 Octavia back from the garage today after fixing the ignition barrel and surprise surprise yellow steering light on, spent well over a hour & half with laptop with long power extension as battery on laptop in knackered, trying 40168 which worked and logged me in but no joy no matter what I tried with left & right turns, quick drives etc and nothing worked. No data when turning the wheel. First thing tomorrow I’ll try you code and pray it works. Can I just ask how you came up with your code, is there more incase this code doesn’t work. Cheers

You have to be careful, i did the same but i used a clockspring (the big thing) for golf 5 with esp, and mine is without esp. That caused the problem and i still havent found a solution, i think im gonna dump the car in a river or down a cliff and burn it or something😂

i have 00778 g85 code but the steering wheel lamp is not lit, mine shows esp light next to abs, i recently fitted new lower arms both sides and the steering wheel is maybe 5degrees to the right of centre. will tracking the car resetting the steering wheel to centre clear the code?

Well, my power steering stopped working after a crash where the steering wheel airbag went out, I am wondering if I am getting this fault because the battery was unplugged for a looong time (also the fuse for power steering pump was “tore in half”, so I hope it did not short out or the airbag explosion did not damage some electronics in the steering wheel…

I have had a G85 defective code that I am trying to clear and a failure to calibrate. I also have an ESP light on that will not change. I got a new wheel sensor and replaced it and have followed the procedure here. No joy though in clearing the code. I have a valid copy of VCDS and cannot seem to get it done. Suggestions?

@@kevin.afton_ Nope, it is the old VW cascade of problems now. I believe I have a short somewhere in the wiring. Either I did it or the something went wrong. I still get the defective warning on my scans and cannot reset it. Now, something is draining my battery. Going to have to trace wires. Suggestions if you have some?

For the G85 I will see somebody with more knowledge than me Tuesday, I will let you know if he managed to fix mine. By the way if you have a valid copy of VCDS why dont you go on their forum? Toto robí po odpojení baterky, vôbec netreba diagnostiku, len vytočiť plný rejd do oboch strán a ísť sa previesť a zmizne samo, už som to robil na viac autách. Ono si to musí overiť nie len natočenie volantu, ale aj dáta z jednotlivých snímačov ABS, potom chyba zmizne sama.
