VW Golf MK7 aluminum pedal covers replacement

Removing stock rubber pedal covers and plastic kick panel (foot rest) on Volkswagen #GolfMK7 and replacing with aluminum #tuning pedal covers set from AliExpress. This modification takes about 20 minutes of your time and requires flat screwdriver and prying tools.
Acceleration pedal cover fits on the original one. Make sure that the rubber holders are placed correctly and the cover will not detach during driving.
Factory brake pedal cover needs to be removed by pulling on one of the sides. New one needs to be pressed in place.
To remove foot rest panel you need to remove hood lever lock and the lever itself, then remove small screw from underneath. Grab the doorstep cover firmly and pull it upwards to release it. Now you can remove plastic cover that is covering part of the kickstand. With this access you can undo the original plastic one and replace it with aluminum part.

Most likely this set of aluminum #pedalCovers will also fit Audi A3 8V, Seat Leon 5F, Skoda Octavia A7, Volkswagen Passat B8 and few other VAG cars.

Tip/suggestion: I slid the cover on from the bottom and it was easy. I noted that the plastic molding of my set on the back was sort of "open" at the top. I hope that helps.

I just did this. Thank you!!! One thing to note, is that you can slip the little locking clip inside the hood latch handle back into place before you press the handle back into place in the last step. Also! The trim has little metal locking clips that can come out. Make sure those go back into their little clip holders before you press the bottom door trim back into place. Fun little upgrade! Took no time at all, and everything just worked. Thanks again!!

Cool guide, helped a lot, thank you! Quick key notes as seen by me. Clutch and brake: remove rubber, add new metallic cover. Gas: nothing to remove (ha!), just add the metallic cover. Good to align it at the bottom and slowly work all the way up. It should hold snugly. Foot rest: Removal - just follow the video, it will guide you absolutely perfectly. Reassembly: As others said, put the locking element back into the handle and just click it on, there is a bezel made on the peg just for this easy way of assembly. All in all - easy procedure. Looks a bit more difficult than it actually is. Make sure you don't work in subzero temperatures, it makes all plastic and rubber too hard to work with.

For the gas pedal, start at the bottom and slowly slide it up and into the rubber track. Was the easiest one with this method, was recommended by another commenter.

Thank you for the helpful video I fit the footrest without remove the panel it have enough space to do the job and the accelerator pedal was the easiest you just have to fit the rubber from the bottom of the pedal and slide it bottom-up and that's it it took me 2 seconds to fit just a tip Skoda Octavia 5e combi

I have to try it again and with some lubricant. I spent more than two hours and my all body was destroyed 😅 , but I was not able to fit right upper corner. So it holds only for 97%. And yes I also tried your way from bottom up.

I removed that little plastic thingy from the handle but the handle would not budge at all!! I couldn't remove the panel but fortunately you can bend it sufficiently to get the foot rest in there.

Thank you. I didnt disassembly the entire plastics for foot rest. Just remove the screw and with hand move upper the plastic and remove the footrest. Easier and faster

I had an absolute nightmare fitting the accelerator pedal cover and ended up using some quick detailer, spraying a little bit onto the edge of the pedal to lubricate it. The pedal cap then slid right on. Hopefully this helps someone. Don't go overboard with the detailer though, you don't want any nasty residue.

Hey I recently bought a 2016 Golf Mk7 Variant Highline (1.4 liter petrol 125 horsepower). It has the standard brake, acceleration, clutch pedal and foot rest. My question about the product in your video is, how is the quality after say a year of daily use? Is there any noticeable wear off to the pedals or are they in excellent condition and it might not be something to worry about?
