VW Golf mk7 grab handle spring fix

Shoes how the grab handle workings work. Disassemble/reassemble.

Just remove handel and mounts. Then you have to insert the spring from the back of it. After you asemble the handel on the mounts. At the end you have to asemnble it all and insert it in the holes. It will snap and fix it self in place. Tried 30min to put the spring back, but took only 2 mins after removing the mounts also.🤣

How did you get from 00:41 to 00:47? Looks like the orientation of your spring changed. I did this exact thing and the handle wasn’t retracting back up

Not as far as I can remember. I can see the spring has to sit behind a bit of plastic for it to hold it in place.

I'm fighting with fixing the handle myself. The spring jumped and is no longer tensioned. I'm trying to push it back to catch the hook, but I can't reach. Would heating it with a hair dryer make it expand enough for it to latch on?

I doubt it. upload a youtube clip of how far you are getting. it was a tricky job.

These are a TERRIBLE design... I've fixed two by using thin modelling cement to permanently lock the plastic pin in place. On the other two, the plastic pins are MIA. I've been thinking of a fix similar to yours with a metal pin but can't work out how to get the hinge mechanism to then go back into the handle with a metal pin in place?? Did you drill through the actual handle and feed the pin through that way, or could you squeeze the hinge pins in enough to reattach the handle???
