Hi guys, just fyi if you run into this problem. I just ran into the same problem three days ago. Symptoms were similar as in the video. An engine did not start and dashboard was flickering. All the warnings went on (autohold problem, steering problem, parking sensor problem, low car battery warning). I tried to start the engine couple times but it did not work. I measured a voltage of my car battery and it showed around 12,38 V, so quite low. I recharged the car battery (a multimeter showed voltage above 12.6 V, so it seemed the battery was fine) and reconnected to the car, however, it did not help at all. I ended up unable to lock car doors because of no power. Locking front doors was no problem (just do it manually with your key/key hole under a plastic cover), however, rear doors and trunk door was a tricky part because there is no key hole. I managed to lock it in the end and after that I ordered a new car battery. Today I changed the batteries (the new one has voltage 12,69 V) and all the problems above are gone. I just turned the steering wheel all the way right and all the way left to remove the steering problem warning in the dashboard. Other warnings disappeared so I did a short ride around a parking lot and everything seems fine. I measured the battery voltage with the engine running (A/C on, seat heating on, light beam on etc.) and multimeter showed 14.4 V so an alternator was recharging the battery, which is also fine. Conclusion -> faulty car battery. I was just surprised that even after recharging I was not able to start the engine. I did not expect to battery last long but I hoped for the last engine start.. but no luck. Even the battery voltage was fine after recharging, the previous battery was completely gone. :)

give the car back to VW , let them worry about it , you should have a valid Warranty on your Golf VII , they should also give you another car while they are trying to fix it In my opinion seems like a Faulty ECU as its giving random error warnings

How old was your battery? In Turkey they say almost five years of a life time for a battery is enough nowadays.

Hi Tom - I think I have this same issue now 17500 miles in. Can you tell me what ended up resolving this? Thank you.
@PaulVella3 жыл бұрын
I had exactly the same warning sound but with airbag and brake faults coming up on the dash. I had installed a dashcam and forgot the driving lights on which drained the battery. I thought I had major issues but charged the battery overnight, installed it in the morning and all was resolved. So if you have the same issue, check your battery voltage.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with starting your **VW Golf VII**, and you suspect that the reason might be a low battery. Here’s a breakdown of potential reasons and solutions related to low battery problems: ### Possible Reasons for Low Battery in a VW Golf VII 1. **Battery Age**: - Car batteries typically last between 3-5 years. If your battery is older, it might not hold a charge effectively, leading to starting problems. 2. **Parasitic Drain**: - Some electrical components (like lights, infotainment system, or even a malfunctioning sensor) could be drawing power even when the car is turned off. This can slowly drain the battery overnight or when the vehicle isn't in use. 3. **Alternator Issues**: - The alternator is responsible for charging the battery while the engine is running. If the alternator is faulty or its belt is slipping, the battery won't charge properly, resulting in a low battery. 4. **Frequent Short Trips**: - If you mostly drive short distances, the battery might not have enough time to recharge fully, especially if the alternator is weak. 5. **Extreme Temperatures**: - Very hot or cold weather can affect battery performance and reduce its ability to hold a charge. 6. **Loose or Corroded Battery Connections**: - If the battery terminals are loose or corroded, the battery might not charge properly. This can also cause starting problems as the electrical connection may be inconsistent. --- ### Signs That Your Battery is Low - **Dim headlights** or interior lights. - **Clicking sound** when trying to start the car. - The engine **cranks slowly** or not at all. - Electrical components (like the radio or dashboard) don't work properly. - **Battery warning light** illuminated on the dashboard. --- ### Steps to Diagnose and Fix the Problem 1. **Check the Battery Voltage**: - Use a multimeter to check the resting voltage of the battery. It should read around 12.6V when fully charged. If it's below 12.0V, the battery is likely low or weak. 2. **Jumpstart the Car**: - If the battery is low, try jump-starting the car. If it starts after a jump, the battery was likely the issue. However, if the problem persists, there may be an underlying issue (alternator, parasitic drain, etc.). 3. **Inspect the Battery Connections**: - Ensure that the battery terminals are clean, tight, and free of corrosion. Clean any corrosion with a wire brush and tighten the connections if necessary. 4. **Test the Alternator**: - After jump-starting the car, measure the battery voltage while the engine is running. It should read between 13.7V and 14.7V. If it's lower, the alternator might not be charging the battery properly. 5. **Consider Battery Replacement**: - If the battery is old or not holding a charge, replacing it might be the best solution. Be sure to get a battery that matches the specifications for your VW Golf VII. --- ### Preventive Measures - **Turn off electrical components** (like lights or the infotainment system) before turning off the car to avoid unnecessary battery drain. - **Drive longer distances** occasionally to allow the alternator to recharge the battery fully. - **Get regular battery checks** during routine maintenance, especially if the battery is more than 3 years old. --- If the problem persists after trying these steps, it might be a good idea to visit a mechanic or dealership to have the electrical system and battery tested more thoroughly.

These errors will pop out when battery has 10V, not much so it cannot start these things. If it boots/starts the motor let it run, it will charge the battery
