The result is amazing for a compact car. In this segment, as far as I know, nothing comes close to these kind of results, especially considering the weather conditions and GTX performance.

more or less for every car it's 70% of WLTP at best conditions, 50% in winter

It would be really interesting to know if the heatpump now is more efficient. My ID.3 doesn't have one, and if I set it to 19°C at 2°C outside, it will pull about 1kW standing around after the cabin is heated. Wonder if this is considerably lower with a heatpump. It's not that fair, i know, becasue if it stands still, it will lower the temperature around it as it draws heat out of the air while driving, the cooled down heat is left behind, but that would be something I'd like to know.

The fog makes the air less dense/heavy so that decreases the consumption. However the effect is more pronounced at higher temperatures. Water has a molar mass of 18 g/mol whereas air which is mostly Nitrogen and ~29 g/mol - so when water replaces air the weight goes down (ideal gas conditions) and what the car pushes away when driving is lighter. Also note the temperature impact even on dry air. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Density_of_air#:~:text=The%20addition%20of%20water%20vapor,around%2029%20g%2Fmol).

So a steam train has an inbuilt drag reduction feature, nice 😊

@abraxastulammo9940 Provided it can get the steam in front of the locomotive yes. Of course if droplets are formed it is a completely other situation.

Hi, I’m just wondering if you ever had any issues with the ID4 model? My ID4 which is only 6 months old had a fault come up which read “ error drive system “ which left me stranded on the road, car would not allow me to select drive mode, I had to get the car towed to the nearest VW dealer, very disappointed and I’m still without my car

Are 20" noticeably noisier and firmer than 18 or 19?
