Great comment about lane assist it is absolutely more hazardous than a help, the ability to turn it off permanently until the driver chooses to turn it on again should be the default, and not need a 3rd party app to do this. My id3 is great, love it but there are many other issues with the id3 where VW have got the human factors of the design wrong which make the controlling the car more distracting for the driver

Hi, I’ve been using OBD11 for a while now and my ID.4 just hit the 70k mileage mark so I decided to bring it to a VW dealer for a health check. Just before I did I ran an obd11 scan and it revealed 25 fault codes mostly intermittent ranging from priority 1-6 Dealer completed the health check (car is still under warranty) and said zero fault codes were revealed! Do you know why the dealer would say there are no faults when the obd11 is reading lots of faults? Any advice on the matter would be greatly apppreciated.

My Seat Mii came with 3 annoying things: lane assist you covered, climate preset to 22 (again can be changed to remember last setting) finally preset was16A ac charging. I needed the OBD 11 to alter to 32A charging. Very useful device.
@OnlyOneTeo3 жыл бұрын
Be careful with 32A setting! For example, ID3 has the 16A limitation for AC 3phase current mainly due to electromagnetic compatibility. If you change setting to 32A, measure carefully the battery temperature and any hazard on vehicle.

1,5 years ago you had told me that you do not wanna use obd eleven cause you did not wanna change and loose warranty. Back then it was about the cars charging and preheating data during winter. Now what has made you changed your mind ? pretty strange turnaround considering that it is now even an affiliate link Now you change exactly the settings we had talked about back then when we had already worked a lot with the e-Up and e-Golf settings to avoid the default settings we did not like . We prefered the car to remember the last ac state and temps, also the lane assist. pretty long and winding road but now obd eleven is the king it had been before. There are tons of more features which btw each dealer can change too - but you have to pay them for each command. These are pretty well documented and you need those even to change the 12V battery cause exchanging or recharging alone do not help cause the energymeter has to be reset by a new serial number as in all other Volkswagen since start stop automatic had been integrated that way a decade ago.

That could get interesting particularly with ability to adjust safety settings beyond Lane Keep assist, the developer could end up in big trouble should there be an accident and there is fatal injuries to passengers or external parties. I could see someone turn everything off that they hate then they lose control and kill a pedestrian for example or their DRL's are off when they should be on or the VESS is off when it's legally supposed to be on. I wonder if VW legal team will be having a little chat or sending a letter once they learn about this.

VW have licensed OBDeleven to use SFD to unlock VW servers on some of the modules so I guess VW are saying it is OK and as batteryLife suggests, you cannot turn off things like the DRL's. If you switch off Lane assist, it is no different to doing it every time you get in the car.

Vehicle Diagnostic Protection (also known as SFD - Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose) is an additional security layer that requires authorization between the vehicle and manufacturer. It may help to protect people from any fraud, by providing the information on who and when has connected to the control unit. This protection applies to the models manufactured from 2020 with the MQB Evo (VW Golf 8, Škoda Octavia IV, Seat Leon IV, Audi A3 8Y, Q4, etc.) and the MEB (VW ID.3, ID.4, Škoda Enyaq, etc.) platforms, restricting such features as adaptations, coding, parametrizations. Control units protected by SFD: Engine Electronics, Central Electrics, Instrument Cluster, Gateway Electrics, Multimedia Unit, etc. To access SFD functionality for the first time you will be asked to update your personal data*. This data is mandatory by our agreement with Volkswagen AG. *The data you will need to provide: verified email, basic personal info (Name, Surname, Phone number, Country), enabled Two-Factor Authentication.

People which switch of lane assiste are usually thinking that the indicator is an optional feature, too. 🙂 Lane Assist only bothers during a lane change, if you do not set the indicator. Switching of a security feature, which keeps you in the lane in emergency situation is just a mad a idea for me. Especially the lane assist of VW has no issue and does not bother too much. I drove the Ioniq5 and Polestar 2...and I must admit I would switch this off in those two cars, too. You bounce from left to the right and it does not keep you in the middle of the lane like the VW System (in my case a Passat GTE 2020) And in the Polestar you get the feeling it knocks the steering wheel out of your hands...the worst car I have driven in my live...noisy suspension, wind noise at A and B Pillar...just an awful car.
