VW Passat 2014 Front Door Handle Removal

This helped me a lot today. I was prying on that lock cyl with a metal clip tool since the door was smoked, and to no avail. Once I put that key in she loosened right up. Thank you and God bless

never unhook the battery unless you have to. If you loosen both screws. Use a plastic tool to pry underneath the lock cylinder. It slides right out. This is definitely the wrong way and the slow way. There is no reason to use the key.

Thanks for the video. I have a 2017 Passat and the passenger rear handle will not stay on the carrier, pulls off completely when the handle is pulled. Is this common? Is the repair typically replacing the handle or replacing the carrier inside the door? Do you have a part number for the carrier? Thanks again

It could be that once the handle is seated correctly that the screw just needs to be tightened more or there may be some tab broken on your outer handle. I do not have a part number for you but I do like to utilize www.partsgeek.com and www.eeuroparts.com Hope this helps

There's no reason to unhook the battery and use the key in the lock to get it out. You and loosen both screws. Use a plastic tool underneath and it slides right out. Probably charges you 2 hours to change door handle. It takes 3 minutes
