I have this car in the USA, 2004 Passat GLS 1.8T engine, 4 Motion all wheel drive with the 5 speed manual transmission. My car is extremely rare, it is all original but not in the best condition cosmetically. Mechanically it's sound, knock wood. It has 118,000 miles and drives great. I've taken mine through similar mud and off road and it is brilliant. I drove in the snow once and left trucks stuck stuck and sliding. Where I'm from it only snows maybe once or twice every couple of years so when I got the opportunity to drive in it I immediately went out that morning and tested out my tires and AWD system. I do have Hankook Kinergy 4S2's on it so that helps traction like you wouldn't believe.

i have the same 4motion passat sw, i went through mud and stuck in middle of nowere , roadside assistance came with a truck but it stuck before me to reach me :D so a tractor from villagers came and pulled me , i have tried everything but mud really impenetrable, only tanks and tractors can pass through

@@zepter00 i live in city, i drive through bad roads rare to invest on something like that , even at snow i have driven one time in my life since it snows once per 10 years at athens and its not a big deal , memories of mud stuck are horrible so i will never do it again

@@zepter00 thnks for advise , i knew that trick , it gives huge advantage but you must have a pump with you to bring back the tyres when come to roads again, i have one of 20€ wich is electrical through 12v socket of car.

Weak driver + Poor tires do the job , I own a 4x4 syncro with all terrain SUV tires it goes everywhere its lifted 30cm off the ground and it does great even in bigger mud pools.
