Good to see you back, I found your arctic/Norway video which I shared around since it was so good. Tonight I was delighted to see your video in the recommendations. Another cracking video, Loved it. I'm about to start a journey on the road too and these videos inspire me immensely, Your van looks amazing and pleased it survived the salt up there. You've met some extraordinary people in Norway and thats what its all about. Looking forward to seeing more Jack. All the best!

Hey Mark thanks so much for the kind words and for sharing my previous video. I try to post as frequently as I can but inevitably work gets in the way. I always throw these things together and just hope they inspire others to get out there and explore :-). The salt and cold weather definitely took their toll but getting that sorted back in the UK over the next few weeks. Best, Jack :-)

I did 1990 to 2014 in various VW’s including a 16" Syncro, I now have a motorhome. I could not go back to a van conversion, I have found that because the motorhome is so much easier to live in that we use it much much more. I very much enjoyed your video though and I miss my Syncro.

Ohhhh man I understand, a few of my mates have motorhomes and it really is a ' home ' rather than a ' van '. The permanent bed/seating/bathroom....I've spent a lot of time in them and I can see why they're so popular. I think for me the Syncro works well because I work outdoors long hours and it ends up just being a bed ( all other facilities are usually at my work places ). I know, whilst they can be a pain in the arse they're also rather charming :-)

You are right, I love seeing Syncro’s out and about, they are a unique vehicle👍

Without a doubt the most least prepared overlander I have had the misfortune to witness. You are fortunate to meet folks who are prepared to help you. Get a toolkit, some spares and a clue.

I’m so sorry for your misfortune. It’s a totally fair assessment, after all you’ve seen my extensive collection of tools & spares….oh wait.

I can see how it would be attractive to really capable mechanics to try extended time in a van. The challenges of keeping a vehicle on the move when your life can depend on your skills. I really have to admire that when my own skills are just not there The rocks in Norway look so young compared to many in North America. You have to go to British Columbia to find that level of sharp edges and steep slopes
@JackMac5 жыл бұрын
I totally agree and I'm definitely still learning. I think something like a vanagon allows you to learn a lot easier than modern vehicles with complicated electrics and poor access. I've learnt more about mechanics in the past five years of owning a syncro than the rest of my life. Yes many are very young, the sharp peaks are a give away. Many of the much older mountains are on the mainland :-)

It seems to me that oven isn't really suitable for a campervan, it is way too big, they should make a smaller version. Who has a freezer in their campervan? Wouldn't mind a dutch oven, can't find one. Interesting stuff though.

@@JackMac I just subded because I like what you do and the scenery photography but would also prefer lower volume music. Though I don't drive a Syncro I enjoy learning about them and what it's like living in it.
