VW T2 Bay Steering Wheel Removal

What did you do when you the removal tool on to clamp on the column? I didn’t see anything happen

Hi, the clamp on the column is the puller. I screwed it down and it pulls the wheel away slightly from the shaft to allow you to remove the wheel by hand as it loosens the wheel from the shaft. hope my explanation makes sense.

When you put it back on do you just tighten it down with the nut?

yep, steering wheel on then nut and tighten. job done.

It doesn’t just come off if it’s been on there for decades, sometimes it’s welded together with galvanic corrosion. I had to cut mine into pieces to get it off, what a PITA

@@CdnBullyboy your right, that's why i used the puller to loosen it off.
