This helped me. My 85 has a plexiglass slider the PO put in....the used replacement window is 2-3 cm wider !! What, different size windows ? Still not sure...Just transfered the stock glass with lock into window frame that came with my Vanagon.... ..I was hoping to find someone local to do this....also dreading the job of dash refurbishment.... if a job is worth doing, it's worth finding someone to do it ! Thanks

Thr dash comes out really easy and is worth checking/cleaning out your heater if this comes out. Good luck

Yes I tintented the back window but I'm not a fan of the dark/black tint as the rest of the van is light colours. Was thinking of mirror tint to keep It light and also use as for a safety aspect to keep from people looking inside, but it's illegal here in Australia

No tint on front windshield or front windows, but we can tint the rest....I just painted the vanagon, L90D, pastel white so I was thinking tint might look good. Guy next to me has a gold weekender with tint and it looks good....I need to decide soon since it comes home today with windows out...thanks

@@DanTheManIOM I have seen light vans with dark window tint that did look OK. I think I just preferred to try and keep it light. Like I said it wasn't an option here anyway so black/smoked is the only option.

@@saulvwlifestyle2494 passed a local police SUV yesterday, why the hell is everyone driving so slow ? Oh, nevermind. Guess who has ALL the windows dark....not ok for you but ok for us...anyway...if the decision is hard, that probably means the outcomes are similar, so make the decision and go on...since I have MB wheels, it's white, and Dave's looks good, I'm going to try it. It's now home in my garage after painting it.

Can that glass piece be removed without taking the entire window out of the door?

if I need to work on the window again (now it's back in) I'm going to try, but you do have to bend open the window frame( a little) to remove the sliding window, and I think this will not be possible with the window in the vehicle. only one way to find out though...
