Hi fella thanks I've had to put a hold on the van I've been fitting a new kitchen indoors hopefully be back on the van soon !!

Not an expert Paul but a lot are using rust converters (Kurust), zinc primers and top coating. You have to use your judgement if you've only taken off surface rust then good to go. Problem with paints is sometimes the rust can creep from the inside if thees a chip/crack. A good coat of grease maintainted each year would stop rust in its tracks.
