VW T5 Transporter, Heater Blower Resistor Fix, could be easier than you think. And in this video I show you how to replace it...
Having found that my 2007 VW T5 Transporter was having problems with the fan blower working on position 1-2-3 (And only 4), I decided to look on KZbin to see if there was an easy fix.
Turns out there was, but required several panels removing and a million and 1 screws and bolts to remove.
However, I soon discovered that in my case, and potentially yours, it wasn't quite as difficult or time consuming as I first thought.
Needless to say 20mins under the dash and my heater blower fan was working again. Another van life success...

Hi, great vid. I had the same problem on my first T5 and so I replaced the resistor like you and solved the problem, but, the problem arises because dirt and grime get into the fan housing making it harder for the fan to go round (hence the squeaking), which in turn burns out the resistor. You need to take out the fan housing (just as easy as taking the resistor out), and grease up the fan to stop the squeak and prevent it from happening again. Keep up the good work with your vids🙂👍

I’ve got fat arms but managed to do it this way too. For those with crap toolkits a 7/32 works on a 5.5mm.

You dont have to replace the whole resistor just the thermal fuse . Just make a note of the blown fuse rating order a new one on fleabay and crimp or solder a new one on in the original orientation. Done loads over the years!

Hi.... I watched your video but it mentioned no passenger air bag. I found another video showing how to do this from underneath (it didn't mention air bags). I did mine from underneath in 20 mins.... if you do have an air bag then search for the video and its just as easy, if not easier.
