One thing that is cool about doing YT is going back over old videos! I miss my VW but I love the Ducato! I hope you continue to subscribe for more Scottish Van Trips, no matter what van you have!

Loved this video, have only just found your channel. We also have a 2022 VW T6.1 conversion. Very much like your setup. We live in Australia and of course have the additional need for flyscreens on the front sliding door and the back tailgate which have been awesome. I'm also from Scotland (emigrated many years ago but go home every year). Look forward to seeing more videos

Lots of useful tips for us having just got our first T6.1 conversion. The ability to adjust the swivel seats back and forward is a really good idea. Favourite things...? The Air Con is great. Also those same built-in curtains, which really do 'black-out' the van for sleeping and for privacy.

Absolutely! We did a trip to France last year, also on our videos, and it was 44 degrees at some points, phew! NOt sure if I mentioned this but we got insulated screen covers for the front windows from Kiravans, really worth it for this current weather. Went went to Aviemore in minus 8 and it was toasty!

It would have been much better fitted with a wider rib bed, mine is 120cm wide, instead of a rock n roll bed. You sleep and sit on dedicated flat and contoured sides retrospectively, of each squab face, much more user friendly. More storage space at the back of the van, more useable and easier to access storage beneath the seat base and back of the van also. A solar panel would be nice with two liesure batteries. A normal hinged pop top is no problem with a full size lwb van. We always use a dedicated drinking cube water container in addition to the sink tap. A new favourite accessory i have just bought from Amazon is a USB tap for the drinking water container so I don't have to lift it up to get water out because the USB tap has a dip pipe, which can be put into the big fill hole at the top through a small plastic tupperware tub with a hole drilled into it to hold it in the fill hole. We have a ridge monkey but hardly use it. Instead we use an SQ professional double clam pan which is much bigger and deeper and can cook two meals at once over two burners and cheaper as well at £29.30 on Amazon.

Thanks for a very detailed review, presumably the pop top makes the van cold and only usable in the summer?
@ScottishVanTrips Жыл бұрын
It definitely cools it down rapidly. A couple of solutions. If you are on a campsite and you need all four sleeping spaces take an oil fired radiator and leave it ticking on at a low level.Take warmer sleeping bags/bedding. I also bought a pop top cover which was thermally insulated and used that when the temp dropped. Makes a massive difference, and worth getting a good quality one.

Very good walk through the van. We‘ve also got the T6.1 and love it and may considering in the future (to get a fixed bed and toilet - wife’s request ) moving to a Ducato so will be interested to see how you get on with it.

Thanks for watching Glen, the waiting list is enormous for the ducato so it looks like next year before it will arrive, but we shall see. I'll do a full tour when we get it! 🤘

Great video - your gooseneck table attachment - i see you have a piece of panel behind it, did you do this to bring it out further or because you didnt want to drill into the metal there?

I have the same van but I use my keys to lock the van when inside at night. If you double press the lock key, it locks but disables the movement sensor… game changer for me…
@ScottishVanTrips2 жыл бұрын
Nice tip Nick, I wasn't aware of that! Thanks for watching!
@stevezodiac491 Жыл бұрын
Another tip, put your keys in a anti radio wave pouch. While you are asleep thieves can work your keyless entry remotely and steal from the front doors of the van.
@ScottishVanTrips Жыл бұрын
@@stevezodiac491 I've a friend who is a vehicle security expert and locksmith, and the last time I spoke to him, there wasn't a thing on the market for hacking the T6.1 keyless fob yet. I can't remember what he told me about the tech it employs, but apparently it's different, and it makes it harder to crack.

You'll want to switch off skid control if you have an ABS sensor issue, otherwise the van will be jumping about all over the place. Um, yes I know this from personal experience! You'll also switch it off if you're trying to get off of loose mud or snow, or if your van has snow chains on.

@@marinejunkies9625 when the van gets converted they put Kiravans Swivels Seats in. They have space under them for storage and swivel round so not sure you can heat them. The build quality is excellent, I'm really happy with it. Not driven a transit recently, but I know VW carry a price tag.

Why are you going over to a fiat ducato rather than a motor home?

This is NOT a review after 12 month of owning, nor is it a review at all. It’s quite simply a guided tour of your vw camper, pointing out its attributes and other paraphernalia.
@KennyTelfer10 ай бұрын
Fair comment! A KZbin plug in suggested a title change to get more views, which has worked, but as you will see from the intro on the video created in minute 1, I actually called this a tour video. Apologies for that, I didn't intend to deceive. For what its worth, I thought the T6.1 was an awesome van with very few flaws! If you have been watching my videos you will see I had trouble with tyres, but really other than this, the van was pretty flawless. The tech on the van as you see in this video is next level, better than my Jag. The fit out of the rear campervan section was amazing, offering everything we needed for a family trip away. Let me know if you need anything else and I'd be glad to help! Thanks for watching!! Kenny.
